Clausen Miller P.C. is a nationally recognized insurance defense firm with decades of experience representing major insurers and self-insured clients across complex litigation matters. We're growing our New York litigation team and looking for a motivated Associate Attorney to work closely with a Senior Partner on a diverse caseload spanning casualty defense, premises liability, and environmental liability.

This is a hands-on role from day one — you'll be taking depositions, making court appearances, and building your litigation skills within a collaborative, well-resourced team.

Clausen Miller PC seeks an Associate Attorney with 1-5 years of New York AND New Jersey litigation experience in first-party property and liability coverage. The associate attorney would work underneath a Senior Partner on each case assigned.

Must be licensed in New York or New Jersey. Candidates should have excellent academic background plus reading, writing, communication and attention to detail skills.

The salary ranges from $105,000 to $115,000 plus benefits (health insurance, 401(k), life insurance, CLEs, registration fees, etc.). Hybrid schedule is acceptable.

The associate’s duties and responsibilities include:

Assist with drafting legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses;Assist with the discovery process by administering depositions, issuing interrogatories and reviewing documents;Perform legal research;Make court appearances.

Position details
This is a hybrid role based in our Chicago or Indiana office, with the possibility of a fully remote arrangement depending on the candidate's location. The salary range is $108,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience, and is accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.

QualificationsActive license and good standing with the Illinois or Indiana State Bar1–3 years of litigation experience preferred; first-year attorneys with prior civil litigation exposure or comparable experience will also be consideredStrong written and oral advocacy skillsCareful attention to detail and sound legal judgmentAbility to manage matters independently while contributing to a teamResponsibilities
Working under partner supervision, the associate will handle matters from initial investigation through trial.
