    Duties: Leads and performs manual tasks at a highly skilled level with the assistance of several utility workers involving the maintenance and construction of sanitary sewer lines and/or sewage plants, as well as water and storm drainage lines, and streets and sidewalks. Provides leadership and assistance to subordinates in overseeing the excavation of repair projects and maintenance work. Assists in pipe installations and adjustments to insure proper grade. Ensures that proper traffic control and safety requirements are being followed. Uses the utility maps and drawings in the performance of daily repairs and maintenance. Must have the ability to make an assessment and an appropriate decision to perform the assigned project. Must be able to lead crew in the absence of assigned crew leader. May be subject to call out service after hours. Must have and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements. Work the assigned schedule and comply with City timekeeping and attendance policy. Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications: High school diploma or GED plus 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Position may require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods of time. Valid Texas CDL Class B and good driving record. Traffic Control I (Flagging). Utility Safety and Trenching and Shoring Safety Requirements.

Position requires constant physical labor. PREFFERED: Certification in Small Engine Repair (or equivalent). One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
