    Work Type: Part-time/Seasonal Nature of Work: This work involves assisting the Tennis Coordinator in the overall operation of the programmed tennis facilities. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: * Knowledge of, and ability to operate, computers and other technology using standard or customized computer or systems software applications appropriate to the assigned tasks. * Skill in operating a cash register and making correct change. * Ability to learn the rules and play of the game of tennis. * Ability to learn to play the game of tennis. * Ability to provide instructions to and set up drills for participants of all ages and ability levels. * Ability to learn and adapt to advances in computer and electronics device technology and software. * Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, as well as with members of the general public. * Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. * Ability to adhere to safety policies, procedures, and guidelines. * Ability to walk and move about the facility 75% to 100% of the time. Essential Functions: (Any one position may not perform all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the duties that may be performed in positions allocated to this classification.) * Plans, arranges, and conducts programmed activities and special events, ensuring that they are conducted in a safe manner and according to policies. * Registers and takes attendance of all participants involved in the facility. * Checks in tennis players to specific courts and times, collects court fees, and reports patrons who reserve court time but do not appear to use the court. * Instructs participants according to weekly lesson plans, conducting drills in specific tennis skills such as forehand, backhand, lob, serve, and volley. * Responds to inquiries from patrons in person and over the phone, providing information regarding tennis programs, court times, leagues, and tournaments. * Supervises the participants and maintains order both on and off the court. * Assists the Recreation Coordinator in overall operation of the facility. * Maintains courts as needed, including court cleaning, trash and debris removal, and general net maintenance. * Performs light custodial duties in and around the facility, which may include snow shoveling. * Prepares and maintains end of shift reporting, deposit slips and other daily records. * Secures the building according to specified procedures. * Maintains regular job attendance in accordance with a schedule established for the position by the supervisor. * Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification.
