    If hired, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months of hire.


    Requirements:

    High School Diploma / GEDValid state issued driver’s licenseEligible to obtain a special police commission as issued by the City of Kansas City, MO police departmentMust pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City of Kansas City, MOU.S. Military service


    Job Duties:

    Monitors residents in custody in all settingsInteracts with people in custody, employing effective communication skills and sound decision-makingMaintains strict order and discipline among the detained population, while promoting social behavior and supporting rehabilitationPatrols designated areas to prevent unauthorized access and ensure a secure perimeter.Admits and releases those in the custody of the facilityPerforms complete booking and intake procedures, including fingerprinting, photographs, orientation to the facility, and providing for basic needs during the intake processReceives inmate funds, counts monies, and deposits into the inmate accountPrepares comprehensive reports such as incident reports, headcounts, and vehicle use logsUtilizes various reports to verify and ensure accountability for incarcerations and releases accuratelyComplete written logs as required
