    We are seeking two fun and dynamic coordinators for our afterschool program at Essex Elementary School. One coordinator will oversee the 1st and 2nd grade site with 78 kids daily and the other will oversee the K's site with 39 kids daily. Each will provide oversight, plan daily activities, and supervise staff. During the school day, you will serve as a mainstream teaching assistant at the school, four days a week, from 10a.m.-2p.m. From 2-6p.m., five days a week, you will serve as the co-coordinator of our Rec Kids afterschool program. Wednesdays from 10a.m.-2p.m. will be office, professional development, and collaboration time. Over the summer, you will serve as a coordinator at one of our summer day camps. This is a unique opportunity to work in a school, take leadership of an afterschool site and summer day camp, and play an active role in providing quality out of school experiences for kids.

    Note: this is a full-time, year-round job.

    PAY/WAGES The pay rate is between $22.06 and $23.50 based on experience.

    Rec Kids Afterschool Program (40%)Plan and provide engaging activities for students who participate in the developmentally appropriate program and in keeping with the program goals and objectives.Ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations.Align daytime school expectations, rules, and behavior management systems with afterschool programs.Create and maintain an environment of respect and rapport.Assure productive, effective, and efficient use of other childcare workers in the program.Effectively manage student behavior by clearly communicating expectations, monitoring student behavior at all times, and successfully and respectfully responding to student behavior and misbehavior.Develop and implement effective student behavior plans as needed.Organize program furniture and other physical resources to promote interaction, learning, safety, and accessibility.Successfully implement operational procedures and practices to ensure a safe and healthy environment for children.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.Provide accommodations for children with individual needs.Be responsible for the program set up and clean up daily.Prepare snacks daily for each child participating in the program.Keep parents informed about program activities (i.e., emails, social media, newsletters, etc.).Communicate daily with parents regarding student behavior/incidents, activities, child exposure to communicable diseases (i.e., lice, ticks, strep throat, etc.), etc.Promote and support Essex Junction Recreation and Parks through positive interactions with parents and children.Lead & supervise site staff.     We pride ourselves in maintaining a consistent, magical space and experience for the children in our community. EJRP Preschool was established in 2009 to meet the growing need for quality early education for the children in our community. This fall, the EJRP Preschool Program entered its 17th year of providing quality preschool experience right in the heart of Essex Junction. Located at the beautiful and historic Park Street School, we provide a full-day, year-round, 5-STAR, licensed preschool program.

    Teacher Assistant

    A teacher assistant is at least eighteen (18) years of age, is a high school graduate or has completed a GED, and meets one (1) of the following qualifications:

    At least a Vermont Early Childhood Career Ladder Level One (1) or Two (2) Certificate; or At least a current CDA (Child Development Associate) and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or At least a State Board of Education approved Human Services Program Certificate that emphasizes child development or early childhood education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or At least successful completion of the Fundamentals for Early Childhood Professionals' course or the Vermont Afterschool Essentials Certificate and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger; or At least successful completion of a three (3) college credit course in child or human development or a three (3) college credit course for school age care and education and at least twelve (12) months experience working with groups of children from grade three (3) or younger.

Entering its 17th year this fall, our wonderful preschool is located in the historic Park Street School where we have three beautiful classrooms, a gross motor space, office space for the director, and an amazing playground. As the director, you will be the teacher in our 4/5 room from 7a.m.-12p.m. and have administrative time from 12-3p.m. to manage our bustling program.
