As part of the Operations Team, they gain on-the-job experience supported by in-depth training to become experts in the operations of the AlexRenew Water Resource Recovery Facility (WRRF). OITs are responsible for performing all routine operational tasks under the direct supervision of Senior Operations Technician or Supervisor in compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety standards, and standard operating procedures. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Under direct supervision of a Senior Operations Technician or Supervisor, perform rounds to monitor and operate all liquid and solids processes within required standards of performance. Under minimal supervision, perform routine operations and preventative maintenance activities in support of efficient operations; examples include raking screenings cans, pigging of heat exchangers, changing parts or supplies, offloading deliveries, and preparing solids or screenings for loading and pickup. Collect representative samples and conduct basic field analyses using standard methods. Monitor WRRF performance data and trends using SCADA, Operator 10, and other instruments, notify OTs or Supervisors of abnormal conditions. Record accurate operational data using standard forms and procedures. Perform basic troubleshooting of plant equipment. In consultation with Senior OT or Supervisor, provide recommendations for improvements and implement corrective actions. Perform required plant housekeeping and maintain clean work areas to ensure proper operations.Provide on-the-job training to Wastewater Systems Apprentices, as assigned. Satisfactorily complete ongoing professional development on all aspects of WRRF operations. Actively promote safe behaviors and health awareness at all times in the execution of daily tasks. Perform general housekeeping duties around facilities. Participate in communications training programs. Shares information as requested about position and tasks with communications team. As requested, participates in various outreach activities, such as career panels and guided tours. This position is also responsible for following industry trends, research, and technology development. The Process Engineer supervises a Senior Process Analyst and a cross-functional team of Process Specialists. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Meets and responds to changing regulatory drivers:Sets targets and makes process recommendations to maintain compliance with permit requirements for effluent, biosolids, and reclaimed water.Communicates regularly on process performance to internal stakeholders. Sets early warning parameters, troubleshoots, and identifies corrective actions to avoid process upsets. In coordination with Water Quality Manager, reviews and revises internal process sampling plans to ensure efficient plant operations. Leads and manages internal operational database (OP10), ensures data quality, supports data requests from internal and external partners. Supervises the development of and reviews regulatory reports to ensure data quality and timely submission. Monitors regulatory trends and plans for future process impacts, recommends improvements to process and equipment to meet future challenges. Optimizes plant processes:Performs in-depth analysis to support optimization of liquids and solids processes.Sets process target goals and measures performance towards goals. Sets targets, monitors, and reports on chemical and energy use. Supports testing of alternative chemical products and development of specifications. Develops seasonal process plans to most efficiently use chemicals and energy while meeting process parameters most efficiently. Leads research and pilots in collaboration with internal and external partners. Develops, reviews, and provides technical comments on standard operating procedures to support plant performance. Leads and manages the process model (SUMO), ensures model accuracy, supports model requests from internal and external partners. Supports process equipment effectiveness:Leads strategy and manages instrumentation used for process monitoring. Provides technical input into the development of Capital Improvement Plan to ensure timely upgrades and renewal of equipment to meet process goals. Reviews and provides technical comments on engineering project specifications, designs, and timelines.Serves on project advisory committees to support design and construction of new equipment. The Asset Manager establishes and oversees the asset management team including the warehouse, reliability and CMMS staff.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Develops and implements asset management program, policies, and procedures, including the Strategic and Tactical Asset Management Plans for AlexRenew’s facilities.Develops, updates, and maintains standard operating procedures regarding the asset management program.Communicates the asset management program framework, including goals, strategies, and performance measures to staff.Collaborates with other departments to develop and update administrative, operational, and maintenance process maps.Regularly conducts risk and criticality analyses to support the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).Reviews and updates failure criteria based on new input regarding levels of service and validates the shape factor curves for probability of failure.Ensures that the CMMS is timely administered and kept up to date.Incorporates data from AlexRenew capital projects into CMMS, including but not limited to, project documentation, record drawings, preventative maintenance scheduling, warranties, and GIS and inspection data.Researches and implements data best management practices.Oversees the CMMS and ensures that data entered is reliable and accurate, maintenance activities are properly triggered, and that the CMMS is utilized effectively.Contributes to the preparation of the annual budget and 10-year capital improvement program.Assists in the prioritization of projects based on criticality and risk factors.Assesses root cause of failures and tracks and monitors failure modes and rates – assists in implementing root cause analysis investigations.Oversees management of the warehouse and inventory of fixed assets and spare parts.
