    This Equipment Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient and cost- effective installation and maintenance of natural gas facilities and appurtenances on both transmission and distribution natural gas systems. Must have excavator and or backhoe experience. Must have valid drivers license and able to obtain Class A CDL License in 6 months. Responsibilities Install, maintain, repair, relocate and retire new or existing natural gas facilities and appurtenances Assist with, plan and set up work zone safety and traffic control measures Perform general site preparation, restoration and right of way maintenance duties Develop proficiency in safe operation of heavy equipment such as mini-excavators, back hoes, skid steers, trenchers, etc., including, but not limited to excavation around utilities (natural gas, electric, etc.) Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on equipment Run power tools Perform hand digging Transport Equipment to and From Jobsites Load and Unload Equipment Maintain material inventory on truck Active leadership skills as lead position while crew foreman is offsite. Working knowledge of underground utilities. Recognize and React to Abnormal Operating Conditions Working knowledge of 811 Requirements and Procedures Requirements Education: High school diploma (Preferred) Experience: 5+ years of natural gas heavy equipment operation; Knowledge of gas installation techniques and standards (preferred) Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Position Summary: The construction laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects. The position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials. Essential Duties Responsibilities: Execute job deliverables according to customer specifications and contract requirements. Manage cost control, margin expectations, productivity, change orders and equipment reporting. Ensure all project work is complaint with installation standards and is being performed safely and correctly. Promote and monitor the safety of team members. Prepare site to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures. Clean debris, trash, and hazardous materials from construction site. Dig trenches as instructed. Assist in installing pipes and drains. Erect temporary structures. Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in progress. Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately. Load and unload equipment from trucks. Fill potholes to facilitate the construction process. Ensure that all work is being done in compliance with the company s protocols. Train apprentices and new hires in construction labor work. Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions. Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed and bring problems to the attention of the foreman. Requirements Education: High school diploma (preferred). Experience: Knowledge of gas installation techniques and standards, has limited experience (preferred). Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more). Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain. Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods. Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels. Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day. Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.
