    DC Material Handler working schedule is for Shift 991: Thursday 6:00 pm–02:00 am, Friday & Saturday 6:00 pm–06:00 am, Sunday 6:00 pm–02:00 amThe hourly wage for this position is $27.50 plus shift premiums

     

    ROLE SUMMARY:

     

    To load and unload finished goods, stock transfer orders, and transfers to Church & Dwight customers and outside Distribution Centers, build pick pallets.

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*denotes essential job functions):

    Operates sit down, stand up and pallet riders proficiently.Loads and unloads trailers and containers accurately and to specification.Builds pick pallets to pick list.Maintains necessary paperwork with a high degree of accuracy.Performs daily preventive maintenance inspections.Maintains a clean department by sweeping and dumping trash at the end of each shift.Works with Church & Dwight carriers and customers in a highly professional manner.Must be proficient in WMS to load or unload trucks in a timely manner.Read and understand the pick list by quantity, product type, lot codes, and product version codes to fill the customer’s orderOperate stretch wrapper to secure load on palletFamiliar with the plant food safety program and basic HACCP principlesWork any shift during the week as well as weekendsUse safe operating procedures and judgmentOperate forklift in a safe and timely manner.Follow all facility rules to maintain quality and integrity of both raw materials and finished productsLift 50 pounds consistently

     

    MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Minimum of a High School Diploma / GED is requiredMinimum of six months of forklift experienceWMS experience is preferredWorking knowledge of material handling equipment

     

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Material Handler General Summary:

    Accurately put away Finished Good products to warehouse in a safe and efficient manner, while maintaining a clean and safe work area. Manages raw material and finished product flow in the following areas:  receiving, shipping, or production support, while coordinating the day-to-day activities of the receiving docks.


    Functions:

    Safely operates material handling equipment, including forklifts.Assists with inventory management and physical inventories for packaging materials and finished goods.Manages daily disposal and replenishment associated with raw materials and waste removal.Unloads and stages raw materials from delivery trucks to be used on the packaging lines.Combines partials at end of production runs.Manages rework area and returns product to lines for repackaging.Responsible for accurate warehousing of Finished Goods inventory from production lines under WMS direction.Assist with maintaining the work area in a safe, clean, and organized manner aligning with 5S standards.Performs other duties as assigned.Performs clearing of jams of palletizing machinery (LOTO authorized).Regular and predictable attendance is required.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Good oral and written communication skills.Good organizational/time management skills.Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.Ability to work for long periods of time, under pressure, to produce results.Demonstrates strong attention to detail and accuracy.Basic math skills.Able to effectively make decisions and manage ambiguity.


    Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum three to six months of proven forklift (with certification) experience while working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in warehousing, shipping, or receiving.

    Compensation

    Base Pay: $32.75 per hour, plus shift differential

    Essential Responsibilities

    Non-Dental Functions

    Transfer semi-finished product from the main vessel to tote run tankPerform manual additions 80%–100% of the workdayWork daily with corrosives, acids, toxic materials, oxidizers, and high-temperature unfinished products

    Dental and Non-Dental Functions

    Perform washouts, purges, and all required paperwork, including batch changes, to maintain production linesReport to the Processing Supervisor to receive daily assignmentsStage batches using a fork truckAdd dry and liquid raw materials into blendersProperly label tanks, totes, samples, and related materialsRun multiple pieces of equipment simultaneously (e.g., charging raw materials to the main vessel while preparing pre-mixes)Follow batch sheet instructions and sign off on each step of the process (FDA required)Obtain samples from each batch and submit them to the Quality Department for approvalManage bulk liquid and dry inventory using the WMS systemPerform OSHA-required forklift safety inspections and complete checklistsWear appropriate PPE and follow all safety proceduresMaintain a clean and organized work areaAdhere to departmental SOPs, GMPs, and JSAsParticipate in all job-related safety training and comply with all safety policies and proceduresReceive general orientation, job-specific training, and refresher training related to hazardous chemicals handledComply with all NJ laws and company policies when sampling, unloading, pre-weighing, transferring, and/or handling hazardous chemicalsPerform other duties as assigned

    Dental Functions

    Operate an automated control process using an HMI touchscreen to process semi-finished productConnect dedicated hoses to transfer raw materials from tankers to pre-fill batch hoppersManually introduce raw materials into the main vessel through a vacuum systemBatch and supply production lines with product via storage or totesWork with oxidizers and toxic raw materialsMaintain the LPD skid to support daily packaging line requirements

    Education & Experience Required

    High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)Chemical aptitude with experience in chemical mixing and batching processesMinimum 1 year of experience as a Compounder/Batch Maker in a fast-paced manufacturing environment (FDA environment preferred)Experience with WMS systems is a plusMust pass a respiratory fit test to wear a respirator
