    ABOUT US

    Christian Wheeler Engineering was founded in San Diego in 1998 to provide professional consulting services related to the development, evaluation, and maintenance of real property. We provide services to the construction industry in a broad range of areas and for a wide variety of projects, from single family homes to high-rise buildings and from hospitals and schools to entertainment venues and commercial developments.     POSITION SUMMARY

    The Building Enclosure Project Architect/Engineer uses their knowledge of building enclosure systems to collaborate with clients and other professional service providers to develop solutions for new and existing building enclosure systems while establishing and maintaining productive relationships with all parties.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    Review and redline architectural drawings and specifications to help the design team develop a complete and constructible set of project specifications and details for the building enclosure.Prepare details and specifications for various project types.Review shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals for conformance with project requirements.Conduct on-site quality assurance observations and prepare and submit electronic daily reports.Evaluate building enclosure systems to help develop solutions to water intrusion.Prepare agendas and conduct or attend pre-construction meetings.Perform water testing in accordance with ASTM E1105.Comply with all safety requirements, including CWE policies, on-site contractor rules, and Cal-OSHA regulations.Follow CWE policies and procedures in the performance of work and general conduct.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Bachelor’s degree in architecture or civil engineering from an accredited schoolFive to ten years related work experienceProfessional registration with the state of California (RA or PE)Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance as required by state law; driving record that meets criteria established by Company’s insurance carrier

    SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

    Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, and BluebeamWorking knowledge of building enclosure systems such as below-grade waterproofing, horizontal waterproofing, exterior wall systems, and window, door, and roof systemsAbility to read and understand construction drawings and to create design details for architectural plansAbility to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writingAbility to manage multiple projects in various stagesAbility to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction and contribute to a teamAbility to handle challenging situations with professionalism and composure

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    Frequently requires standing, walking, stooping, crouching, climbing, and balancing.Frequently requires lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs.; may occasionally require lifting up to 50 lbs.Frequently requires driving, working around equipment and machinery, navigating uneven surfaces, exposure to noise, working on scaffolding and high places, and use of personal protective equipment.Worker may be exposed to dust, fumes, odors, mist, gases, poor ventilation, and may work in close quarters, crawl spaces, and confined spaces.Occasionally requires kneeling, crawling, pushing, pulling, and sitting for extended periods. Requires close visual acuity.Work environment is indoors and outdoors and subject to environmental conditions including extreme heat at times.
