Position Overview
The Residential Support Assistant (RSA) provides direct care and supervision to individuals in a residential setting, supporting their physical, emotional, and social well-being. This role is essential in helping residents maintain independence, dignity, and a high quality of life while ensuring a safe and structured environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide hands-on assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toiletingSupport residents with mobility, transfers, and positioning as neededPrepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary guidelines and assist with feeding when necessaryAdminister medications in compliance with state regulations and company policies (if certified)Observe, document, and report changes in residents’ health, behavior, or conditionImplement individualized service plans and behavioral support strategiesPromote social interaction, engagement, and participation in recreational activitiesMaintain a clean, organized, and safe living environmentAssist with transportation to appointments, errands, and community outings (if required)Follow all safety protocols, including infection control and emergency proceduresMaintain accurate documentation and complete required reports in a timely manner
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent requiredAt least 6 months of experience in caregiving, healthcare, or human services preferredCPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)Medication Administration certification preferred (if applicable under Maryland regulations)Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferredAbility to pass criminal background check and drug screening
