    A Brief Overview
    Performs a variety of preparatory, scrubbing and related duties necessary to provide patient care in the Operating Room specialty service capacity. Assist with surgical cases in all surgical specialties.

    Essential Functions

    Prepares the operating room by reviewing case cart and supplying it with supplies and instruments to provide appropriate patient care • Assembles supplies and equipment for scheduled procedure according to the physician's preferences and the procedure • Inspects equipment for proper working condition • Maintain sterile practices when opening packages and preparing for the procedure • Prepare for specialty cases and maintain up-to-date knowledge of advancements and techniques. • Participate in time out/sign out processes Maintains the sterile field during the procedure. • Follow principles of aseptic technique and appropriate operating/procedure room procedures following AORN guidelines. • Scrubs to assist the surgeon in the completion of surgical procedures by demonstrating a working knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment needed for a variety of procedures. • Anticipates the needs of the surgeon, passing instruments and providing sterile items in an efficient manner, as directed by the surgeon Practices sharps safety techniques (safety zone, safe passing) • Performs appropriate counts prior to the operation and before incision is closed • Prepares and labels fluids and medications on the sterile field • Prepares specimens for pathologic analysis Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization • Assists operating room team with environmental cleaning and case turnovers • Maintains availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays • Assists in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedure. • Store and stock supplies as needed • Updates preference cards following each procedure to ensure appropriate supplies are available and communicates to service lead • Assist with OR patient care processes as directed by nursing and anesthesia • Participates in assigned on call activities. Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job. Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section


    Education Qualifications

    Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technologist OR applicable surgical technologist course of study Required

    Experience Qualifications

    Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Surgical Technologist and competency in scrubbing in 2 or more surgical specialties as a Surgical Technologist. Candidates with the Surgical Technologist certification fulfill this requirement without the experience. Required

    A Brief Overview
    Ensures safe, accurate and appropriate use of medications, by evaluating prescribers' orders for dosing, allergies and contraindications. Supervises the work of supportive pharmacy personnel. Answers pharmacy-related questions for other health professionals and the general public. Performs pharmacokinetic monitoring and consultations, reports adverse drug events, interventions (iVents), and variances involving medications. Recommends appropriate and cost-effective drug therapy options. Provides medication counseling to patients and their families. Actively participates and facilitates the medication reconciliation process upon admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Promotes and participates in the defined missions of the hospital and the pharmacy. Actively promotes the profession of pharmacy by participating in the education of students on clerkships and experiential experiences, as well as pharmacy residents.

    Essential Functions

    Appropriately reviews medication therapy and intervenes with healthcare team as warranted. • Evaluates medication order for appropriate medication selection, dosage, route, frequency, duration of therapy and drug interactions (drug-drug, allergy, drug-disease, drug-lab, drug-food) in relation to the patient's clinical status. • Performs daily profile review to assess appropriateness of medication therapy in relation to patient's ongoing and changing disease state and clinical status. • Appropriately and routinely utilizes formulary agents; follows appropriate procedures for the procurement of non-formulary items and the use of patient's own medications. • Monitors pharmacokinetic patient profiles in accordance with policy. Performs accurate and timely pharmacokinetic consults. • Demonstrates competency verifying and/or entering orders into the electronic medical record. Responsible for the timely and accurate dispensing of pharmaceuticals, ensuring proper preparation, labeling, dispensing and charging. • Reviews medication orders and appropriately triages urgent, routine, and PRN medication orders • Understands and demonstrates appropriate order entry, preparation and documentation of the following pharmaceutical products: controlled substances, chemotherapy, TPN solution, injectables, oral preparations, respiratory care items, home medications, non-formulary medications, investigational medications, etc. • Provides appropriate supervision and timely checking of pharmaceutical products prepared by supportive pharmacy personnel. • Proficient in describing appropriate delivery of all medications including routine meds, controlled substances, and chemotherapy. • Effectively identifies and resolves routine professional practice problems on a regular basis using critical evaluation skills. Appropriately manages technology in the day-to-day delivery of pharmaceutical care. • CADD pump programming • BAXA compounder setup and trouble shooting • ABACUS order entry • Basic PYXIS functions • Electronic variance reporting system • Intervention documentation (iVents) • Retrieval of Policy and Procedures from the Intranet • Electronic drug information resources (Lexi-comp, Micromedex, etc.) Provides information to healthcare professionals and families regarding drug therapy. • Answers drug related questions in a timely and professional manner and utilizes other resources as necessary. • Provides discharge teaching instructions, including patient information sheets and medication calendars if warranted, and documents in EMR appropriately. • Participates in educations opportunities with healthcare practitioners, including students and residents Based on departmental/organizational need may be required to participate in Transplant program functions Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job.     Education Qualifications

    A Brief Overview
    Provides appropriate respiratory care specific to the pediatric population in accordance with the hospital policy/procedure. Assesses, plans and implements appropriate respiratory plan of care based on the cardiopulmonary needs of the patients. Evaluates effectiveness of plan of care and recommends revisions to the multidisciplinary care team

    Essential Functions

    Set up and operate devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators, following specified parameters of treatment. Determine requirements for treatment, such as type, methods and duration of therapy, precautions to be taken, and medication and dosages, compatible with physician's orders. Read physicians' orders, measure arterial blood gases, and review patient information to assess patient's condition. Explain treatment procedures to patients to gain cooperation and allay fears. Monitor patient's physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood gases and blood chemistry changes and consult with physician if adverse reactions occur. Administer therapeutic gases including nitrogen, nitric oxide, heliox, etc. Enforce safety rules and ensure careful adherence to physicians' orders. Maintain charts that contain patient pertinent identification and therapy information. Inspect, clean, test, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently and notify manager/supervisor when repairs are necessary. Educate patients and/or their families about the patient's condition and teach appropriate disease management techniques such as breathing exercises and the use of medications and respiratory equipment. Perform broncho-pulmonary drainage and assist or instruct patients in performance of breathing exercises. Conduct lung capacity tests to evaluate patient's cardiopulmonary functions. Provide emergency care, including artificial respiration, external cardiac massage and assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Complete all required respiratory therapy competency tests within specified timeline. Demonstrate competency in identified technical skills for the respiratory department at the specific work area. Other duties may also include Clinical Instructor (schedule dependent on the contract with Respiratory Therapy schools): Supervise contracted Respiratory Therapy (RT) students from specified schools in the clinical hospital setting. Orients RT students to their role in the hospital, which includes scope of service, policies and procedures, patient safety, and professionalism. Orients RT students to the equipment used by RT at Children's. Provides opportunities for directly supervised hands on learning in the clinical setting. Responsible for accurate completion and documentation of all Respiratory Therapy performed with RT students. Responsible for accurate "Hand off" of patient information and ordered Respiratory Therapy performed with RT students.


    Education Qualifications

    Graduate of an accredited AMA approved school of respiratory care accredited by the National Board of Respiratory Care Required and Bachelor's Degree From an AMA approved accredited school in respiratory care Preferred

    Experience Qualifications

    Minimum 1 year experience in respiratory therapy Preferred and Experience working with pediatric patients Preferred

    Skills and Abilities

    Demonstrates competency in technical skills related to the Respiratory Therapy department.

    Licenses and Certifications
