    Job Specifications:

    Current NYS Special Education Teacher Certification
    Work experience of at least 2 consecutive years of teaching children with disabilities preferred - new grads will be considered if NYS certified.
    Necessary knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of the students
    Understanding of child development
    Compassionate understanding of and genuine concern for children with multiple disabilities and their families
    Ability to communicate with students, staff members, and parents in a cordial and professional manner
    Ability to work in an educational setting in a confidential and professional manner
    Daily lifting, movement and transferring of students is required
    Team/mechanical lifting of students and or equipment and materials
    Movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices is required
    Other physical activities may be required
    Occasional travel with students on field trips may be necessary
    Physical contact with and/or possible exposure to bodily fluids may occur
    This is a 12 month position.

    Purpose:

    Provides assistance to the administrative team in pursuing educational goals for students by the implementation of each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP).

    Essential Duties:

    Serves as the primary team leader in all aspects of educational programming through collaboration and consultation with other disciplines
    Oversees the provision of a therapeutic and educational environment through individual and small group instruction, designing individual modifications as needed and coordinating the learning needs of each student
    Assists in direct student care as needed including lifting, feeding, toileting and busing
    Produces lesson plans, documents classroom activities and educational progress of students through data collection, recording daily activities, behavior, affect, and mood of students while in class
    Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, referral sources and the general public
    Participates in staff growth and professional development activities
    Completes other related tasks as assigned

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
