    Koch Eye Associates is proud to have served the residents of Rhode Island with field-leading eye care for almost 40 years. We began our practice in 1981 out of a small office in Warwick, and now we have eight locations spanning Warwick, Cranston, North Kingstown, Wakefield, and Woonsocket. Our dedicated team of ophthalmologists and optometrists is devoted to providing top-notch, stress-free care to our patients.

    The Ophthalmic Technician performs a range of duties which includes preparing the patient to see Attending Physician (preliminary exam, medical history, & testing), preparation of examination and treatment rooms, performing basic and routine vision screening examinations, administering eye medications, cleaning and maintaining ophthalmic instruments and assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Obtain medical and eye history from patient and document information using the EHR systemPrepare examination and treatment roomsPerform screening and testing (will train) to prepare the patient for doctor's exam including visual acuity, color vision testing, auto-lensometry, autorefraction, tonometry, Amsler grid, pupil evaluation, and other testing as neededAdminister eye medicationsMay assist physicians during minor surgical proceduresWill train to maintain and calibrate ophthalmic and surgical instrumentsMust have a clear understanding of company policies including the company manualYou will be required to travel to other location for business needs.

    The Greater New Bedford Surgical and Laser Center was opened in 1986 with the express purpose of rendering high quality, state-of-the-art eye surgery to patients of all ages, especially those with cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, or corneal disease. We also do oculoplastic procedures. The center is designed specifically with the needs of the patient and their family in mind, and the entire process, from initial examination in our clinics in the Eye Health Vision Centers upstairs to the final surgical outcome, is conducted in a pleasant and comfortable environment.

    Licensed Practical Nurses provide general and routine care to patients. They monitor the health of patients and look for signs that indicate whether their health is deteriorating or improving. An LPN also offers comfort and support to patients and their family and friends. Licensed Practical Nurses may also complete some administrative tasks such as answering or making phone calls, as well as inputting data or information into the computer.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Records a patient’s medical history accurately.Takes and records measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate, etc.Observes patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.Monitors patients’ condition during fluid intake and output and compose patient charts.Assists ailing patients in daily necessary activities.Administers injections, prescribed medications, enemas, etc. cleans and dresses wounds and assists with other basic medical care tasks.Collects samples for lab testing as assigned.Provides emotional and psychological support when needed.Communicates with patients’ family or friends to provide advice, comfort, and release instructions
