Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and flexible PRN Companion Caregiver who is willing and able to travel throughout Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and surrounding counties based on client needs.
This position is best suited for someone with reliable transportation who is comfortable accepting assignments in different service areas. Hours and locations will vary depending on client availability. Because this is a PRN position, consistent weekly hours are not guaranteed.
Responsibilities
Provide companionship and emotional supportEngage clients in conversation and meaningful activitiesPrepare light mealsAssist with light housekeeping and laundryProvide medication remindersEncourage safe mobility, social engagement, and independenceAssist with errands, grocery shopping, and appointments when requiredObserve and report changes in a client’s condition or behaviorComplete accurate visit documentationFollow the client’s established plan of careTravel to client homes throughout Baltimore and surrounding countiesProvide services with compassion, professionalism, and respectTravel Requirements

Be willing to travel throughout Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and surrounding Maryland countiesHave reliable personal transportationPossess a valid driver’s licenseMaintain current automobile insuranceBe comfortable driving to different client locationsBe dependable and able to arrive at assignments on timeTravel distance and assignment location will be discussed before a caregiver accepts a shift.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GEDAt least one year of caregiving, home care, or healthcare experience preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsCompassionate, patient, and dependableAbility to work independently in clients’ homesAbility to pass required criminal background checksCurrent CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certificationLegally authorized to work in the United StatesSmartphone access for communication and visit documentationSchedule

Reports to: Agency Supervisor / Care Coordinator
Service Recipients: Seniors 65+
Services Provided: Personal Support, Home Support, Lifestyle Support
Overview:
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) provides hands-on support to seniors with their daily living activities. The PCA ensures the safety, comfort, and dignity of each client while assisting with personal hygiene, mobility, and basic health support. This role requires compassion, patience, and the ability to follow individualized care plans.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Personal Care
Assist with bathing and showering, ensuring safety and privacy.
Support dressing and undressing according to client preferences and needs.
Provide toileting and incontinence care, including cleaning after accidents.
Assist with oral hygiene (teeth brushing, gargling, denture care).
Support hair care, including combing, brushing, and styling.
Apply non-medicated skin care products as needed.
Provide feeding assistance, ensuring clients eat and drink safely.
Give medication reminders according to the care plan.
Support mobility, including walking, transferring from bed/chair, or repositioning in bed.
2. Home Support
Perform light housekeeping, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and general tidying.
Assist with laundry, including washing, drying, folding, and putting away clothes and linens.
Dishwashing and kitchen cleaning, maintaining a sanitary environment.
Linen changes and bed-making to ensure client comfort.
Prepare light meals or snacks, following dietary needs.
Remove trash and maintain general cleanliness.
Assist with grocery list preparation or light shopping tasks.
Support pet feeding or plant care (light duties only).
3. Lifestyle Support
Provide companionship and conversation, enhancing social and emotional well-being.
Facilitate games, crafts, and recreational activities suitable for clients’ abilities.
Engage in reading, music, and media activities for cognitive stimulation.
Assist with light exercise or walks to support mobility and health.
Support clients in attending social outings or appointments as needed.
Encourage reminiscing, letter writing, or phone call assistance for engagement and mental wellness.
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Previous caregiving experience preferred, especially with seniors.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (can be referred).
Ability to pass background checks and meet agency standards.
Reliable transportation within the service area.
Ability to follow client-specific care plans and communicate effectively with supervisors.
