    Job DescriptionJob Description

    CBG Surveying knows there is a shortage of AutoCAD and drafting professionals. That is why we are doing something that no other company in DFW is doing in our industry. We are offering a twelve (12) week, 9 am to 3 pm M - F Internship class that will teach you a life skill and hopefully land you a fulltime job in the drafting profession. Are you self-motivated, team player and ready to learn? If these are qualities you have answered YES to then we have a great opportunity for you.

    *Internship starts on Monday, August 10, 2026 for 12 consecutive weeks, from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM Monday-Friday. 

    • Understand and use company established standards for drafting assignments

    • Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches, and inked tracings.

    • Compare survey computations with applicable standards to determine adequacy of data. Responsible for office calculations from construction plans for field layout and preparation of cut sheets and point lists.

    • Collect information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information.

    • Operate and manage land information computer systems, performing tasks such as storing data, making inquiries and producing plots and reports.

    • Responsible for the correctness of the survey that meets CBG standards

    Requirements

    • High School Diploma or GED (Two years college or equivalent work experience preferred)

    • Positive attitude, Attention to details and Motivated

    • Good oral and written communication skills a plus

    Position Overview

    The Survey Crew Chief is responsible for leading a field crew in performing:

    Boundary and topographic surveysConstruction staking, form surveys, and final surveysBuilding layout and field data collection

    This role reports directly to the Survey Field Manager and plays a critical role in delivering high-quality results to our clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    Determine the most efficient plan of action for field data acquisitionLead and supervise survey crew operations in the fieldAccurately collect and verify survey data using modern survey equipmentCommunicate daily with the Field Department Manager regarding project schedules and progressMaintain company vehicles and field equipmentProfessionally interact with clients, landowners, and stakeholders

    Requirements

    5+ years of progressive field surveying experience, including leadership/crew chief experienceStrong background in Land Title SurveyingAbility to calculate boundaries independentlyExperience with:Translating and rotating plotted point filesTopographic and commercial surveysProficiency with:Total stations and data collectorsRobotic instruments (preferred)CAD experience (a plus)Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and technical)Proven work ethic and team-oriented mindsetValid driver’s license requiredHigh School Diploma or GED required

    CBG Surveying Texas is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and highly motivated Construction Staking Project Manager to help lead and expand our growing construction staking operations in the DFW market.

    The ideal candidate is a strong operational leader with extensive construction surveying experience, exceptional communication skills, a sense of urgency, and a “whatever it takes” attitude to support our clients and field teams.

    What You’ll Do

    As the Construction Staking Project Manager, you will serve as a key leader between clients, field crews, drafting, operations, and management to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.

    Responsibilities Include:

    Manage construction staking projects from start to finish while ensuring services meet company quality standards and client specifications.Serve as the primary point of contact between CBG clients, upper management, and internal departments.Coordinate and oversee day-to-day operations of field crews and office staff across multiple projects.Ensure accurate control settings, leveling, calculations, and as-built surveys for projects.Establish and maintain site control networks and benchmarks.Review and verify survey data, drawings, calculations, and reports for accuracy and compliance.Develop project schedules, staffing plans, budgets, proposals, contracts, and billing oversight.Manage project deliverables, timelines, AR/WIP, and overall project financial performanceParticipate in business development opportunities and help expand CBG’s construction staking presence.Troubleshoot field and operational issues quickly while maintaining strong communication and professionalism.Work collaboratively across departments to improve processes, maximize efficiency, and support operational growth.Mentor, support, and help develop future field and project management talent.Represent CBG professionally in meetings, client interactions, and industry events.Perform additional duties that support the company’s strategic growth goals.

    5+ years of experience in construction surveying and project management.Strong understanding of residential and commercial construction staking projects.Experience managing large-scale construction projects and multiple crews.Proficiency with AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center, Bluebeam, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office Suite.Experience with Trimble GPS equipment, robotic total stations, and related field technology.Ability to read and interpret civil and structural CAD drawings, plans, and specifications.Strong business development and client relationship management skills.Experience mentoring crews and developing team members.RPLS preferred but not required.Degree or diploma in Surveying or related field required.
