    OVERVIEW

    Assists with the implementation of scheduled activities and special events (for example, arts, crafts, swimming, table games, cooking classes, homework, and field trips) for the after school and evening programs at John Valenzuela Youth Center. Position may from time-to-time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Ability to lead and supervise small and large groupsAssists with educational and recreational activities, such as outdoor/indoor games, computer tutoring, and homework as part of the daily scheduleMaintains a clean and neat facility appearance dailyAssists with recruitment, registration, intake, and follow-up services for youth participants or potential participantsProvides supervision of youth at all times, ensuring a safe, healthful environment Observes center and program regulationsAssists with gathering data for reports and grants related to the program Effectively communicates with diverse cultural and ethnic groups, including individuals with disabilities

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    Suitable work experience may be considered as transferable skills in order to meet minimum requirements of the position and will be considered by the Executive Director of Human Resources.

    High School Diploma or GEDExcellent organization skills6 months of paid, internship, or volunteer experience working with children ages 5 through 18Ability to organize activities for children ages 5 through 18Good communication skills (appropriate style, grammar, and tone)

    REGULATORY

    Must be at least 18 years of ageValid driver license, proof of insurance, and 39-month motor vehicle reportAbility to obtain and maintain Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card and FBI National Criminal Records History Report (employer paid)Pass pre-employment drug screen (incudes marijuana, regardless of recreational use laws) (employer paid)TB screening or chest X-ray

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Associate Degree in social services or related fieldAdditional duration of directly-related experience working with youth in an after school programBilingual in English and Spanish, verbal and writtenExperience with programs serving high-risk youth

    OVERVIEW

    Provides support to staff and participants through answering the crisis line and screening potential participants for admissions. Maintains control over shelter food and supplies, assists with activities and groups, and provides transportation to participants. Position may from time to time be stressful and require a high demand of performance. May perform other duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Promotes the safety and confidentiality of participants and shelterProvides protection, food, and other basic needs with dignity and respect to program participantsPrepares facility and participants for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) mealsRecords CACFP meal counts, serves food according to guidelines, and ensures CACFP program complianceUtilizes the "Empowerment Model" of behaviorProvides information regarding resources and referrals to community-based resourcesMonitors the crisis line and assists with participant intakesCollaborates and networks with other agencies in coordinating servicesPromotes the House of Hope Program through community awareness on domestic violenceAccommodates flexible program scheduling; is open to changeProvides feedback of participants' progress in meetings and shift notesAttends weekly staff meetings and required trainingsAdheres to licensure regulations, contract compliances, and program requirementsMaintains and stocks all program formsAssists with the completion of program reportsMay drive agency vehicle on company business May perform other duties as assigned
