Responsibilities Inspects construction contract related to water and wastewater facilities Reviews contract plans and specifications for constructability, notes, errors, omissions and potential problem areas Schedules, plans, coordinates, and completes site inspections Coordinates construction related system outages with client facilities Prepares complete inspection reports and maintains a daily diary Maintains complete project files including a project photo file Keeps detailed records of construction progress, changed conditions, and as built drawings Prepares monthly estimates of quantity of construction completed Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with contractors, consultant, and owner Responsible for actions and performance of Junior Level Construction Inspectors Mentors and trains Junior Construction Inspectors Qualifications In-depth knowledge of standard construction specifications, codes and special standards, methods, materials and equipment used in construction of water and wastewater facilities Working knowledge of methods of soil compaction and density testing procedures, properties and uses of concrete, and techniques of handling, placing, curing and sampling concrete In-depth understanding of OSHA Construction Safety Orders Ability to keep neat, accurate, and concise records Work independently with minimum supervision Strong oral and written communications skills Strong computer and internet skills High school diploma or equivalent 2-5 years experience of responsible field inspection Completion of OSHA 10 hour safety course and other construction training Preferred Qualifications Two year technical or Associate Degree in a related technical field Need help finding the right job? Responsibilities Win and manage engineering work in the metro Atlanta region Facilitating the planning, design, and construction of complex water and wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects, including the development and execution of budgets, schedules, contract obligations, and quality standards Developing significant relationships with new and existing clients and having responsibility for client maintenance Planning, scheduling, and conducting engineering work on projects, for multiple clients, of medium to large sizes of moderately complex nature Initiating and maintaining extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies Having full technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating assignments Determining program objectives and requirements and organizing programs and projects Involved in exploration of subject area, definition of scope and selection of problems for investigation, and development of novel concepts and approaches Responsible for budget, schedule, contractual obligations and quality standards Directing several subordinate supervisors or team leaders Responsible for training and mentoring internal staff Planning and developing projects concerned with unique or controversial problems that have an important effect on major organization programs Developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities Responsible for acting independently and making authoritative decisions on technical matters Participating on team that prepares proposals, conducts interviews, and negotiates contracts with clients Supporting firm's relationships with client management personnel Responsible for identifying and directing sub consultants performing services on projects Active in professional associations, including presentation of technical papers, member of technical committee, officer of local or national organization Minimal travel is required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering Registration as a Professional Engineer 15+ years of professional experience Experience delivering water and wastewater treatment, wastewater collection systems, water transmission/distribution, pipeline rehabilitation, and/or pump station projects Ability to deliver high quality services within budget and schedule constraints Ability to evaluate progress of staff and results obtained, and recommend major changes to achieve overall objectives Ability to communicate effectively with multiple clients and project teams Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering Design and construction phase experience Compensation Range An employee's pay within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
