    About the Role

    This role is a leadership position responsible for establishing, managing, and continuously improving microbiology operations within a GMP environment. The position plays a critical role in building systems, supporting growth projects, and maintaining a state of control across microbiology, validation, and quality documentation.


    This role will be well-suited for an experienced microbiology leader who enjoys building programs, mentoring teams, and working cross-functionally in developing or expanding facilities.

    Key Responsibilities

    Lead day-to-day microbiology operations in compliance with GMP requirements Establish, implement, and maintain microbiology quality systems, SOPs, and documentation Support validation and qualification activities including IQ, OQ, PQ for microbiology labs and production areas Oversee environmental monitoring, water systems, sterility assurance, and contamination control programs Support audit readiness, inspections, and regulatory interactions Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, and Engineering teams Support new projects, expansions, and technology implementation Manage and mentor microbiology staff and contractors Work with external vendors and service providers for calibration, validation, and testing activities


    What We’re Looking For


    Required

    Advanced degree in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline Significant experience leading microbiology operations in a GMP pharmaceutical environment Strong background in microbiological testing, environmental monitoring, validation, and compliance Experience establishing or strengthening microbiology quality systems Comfort working in growing or evolving organizations Strong documentation, audit, and regulatory readiness experience Collaborative leadership style with a focus on steady execution


    Preferred

    Experience supporting new facility start-ups or expansions Experience leading microbiology functions across multiple sites Hands-on background combined with leadership responsibilities

    About the Role
    The Microbiologist supports microbiology laboratory activities to ensure products, utilities, and environments meet GMP and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for performing microbiological testing, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting investigations related to microbiological data.

    This position is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, methodical, and comfortable working in structured laboratory and quality systems. Success in this role comes from accuracy, consistency, and the ability to work collaboratively across functions.


    Key Responsibilities

    Perform microbiological testing such as environmental monitoring, bioburden testing, water testing, endotoxin testing, or sterility testing as applicable Execute testing in accordance with approved SOPs, methods, and GMP requirements Accurately document laboratory data, results, and activities in real time Review test results for compliance with specifications and alert appropriate personnel to out-of-specification or atypical results Support investigations related to microbiological excursions, deviations, and OOS/OOT results Maintain laboratory equipment, materials, and workspaces in a compliant state Participate in laboratory housekeeping, gowning, and contamination control practices Support internal audits, inspections, and regulatory readiness activities as needed Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Validation, and other support teams


    What We’re Looking For

    Required

    Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific field Experience working in a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or similar laboratory environment Working knowledge of microbiology principles, aseptic techniques, and contamination control Strong attention to detail and disciplined documentation habits Ability to follow established procedures and laboratory systems Clear written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred

    Experience with environmental monitoring programs and cleanroom operations Familiarity with USP, FDA, or other regulatory microbiology requirements

    Experience supporting laboratory investigations or audits
