    As Sr. Electrical Engineer at Carbon Robotics, you will design and optimize the robust electrical power distribution and control systems architectures that are the heart of our products. You will create everything from electrical cabinet layouts to reliable 240VAC and low-voltage power distribution systems capable of enduring harsh agricultural environments. From developing robust architectures to deep vendor engagement to validating performance in harsh farm environments, you'll do whatever it takes - including going to the farm - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.

    What you'll do:

    Design and architect comprehensive power distribution systems, managing both 240VAC single/three-phase power and low-voltage DC distribution for complex robotic machinery.Lead the full lifecycle of electrical cabinet design, including component layout, thermal management, enclosure selection, and wire harness schematics.Integrate and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), automotive and industrial IO modules, and safety relays to automate and protect machine subsystems.Select and qualify critical electrical components such as circuit breakers, contactors, power supplies, transformers, and industrial control panel hardware.Optimize electrical designs for EMI/EMC compliance, electrical safety standards (e.g., UL 508A, NFPA 79, SAE J1128), and reliability in the field.Collaborate closely with mechanical and software teams to define spatial constraints inside enclosures and establish seamless PLC-to-software communication interfaces.Support assembly technicians and manufacturing partners through initial panel build-outs, system bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

    3-8 years experience in electrical engineering, specifically focusing on industrial or automotive power distribution, panel design, and automation. Proficiency in AutoCAD for wiring design as well as analytical design optimization toolsExperience with SolidWorksHands-on experience with PLC programming and industrial and automotive networking protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherCAT, CANbus)Strong foundational knowledge of AC/DC power, including 240VAC systems, three-phase power balancing, and low-voltage (12V/24VDC) control circuitsPrevious experience designing for challenging environments (agricultural, automotive, heavy equipment, or aerospace) where vibration, extreme temperatures, dust, and moisture are constant factorsProficiency in automotive wiring standards, connector systems, and harness design for high-power applicationsDeep understanding of circuit protection devices (contactors, fuses, solid state power controls/relays) for vehicle applicationsWillingness to travel ~10-20% of the time to support products in the production & field environments with a demonstrated ability to work directly with internal and external stakeholders/customersBS+ in Electrical Engineering with focus on power systems, automotive engineering, or related field

    Carbon Robotics' base salary pay range:$150,000—$175,000 USD

    As Electrical Engineer, PCB Design at Carbon Robotics, you will design the circuit boards that power our revolutionary products. You'll create everything from high-reliability embedded control boards to power electronics that operate in harsh agricultural environments. From rapid prototyping to optimizing for high-volume manufacturing, you'll do whatever it takes - which might include going to the farm - to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.

    What you'll do:

    As an Electrical Engineer, COTS/Sensor at Carbon Robotics you'll be a key part of the team that designs and manages the eyes and ears of our robots. You will lead the selection, integration, and validation of the sensors and industrial components that allow our Laserweeder and autonomous systems to navigate rugged agricultural environments.     As a Electrical Engineer, Edge Compute at Carbon Robotics be a key part of the team that designs and manages the distributed computing infrastructure that is the heart of our robots. You are responsible for the specification, design, vendor management, integration, and thermal/electrical management of the compute and network clusters.     As a Sr. Vehicle Controls Engineer at Carbon Robotics, you will be instrumental in designing and implementing control algorithms and software that ensure the robust, precise, and safe motion of our AI and robotics products. You will work cross-functionally with software, mechanical, electrical, and systems integration peers to build AI and robotics products. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining embedded software systems for various electronic devices, and will do whatever it takes—which will include going to the farm—to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products.

    What You'll Do:

    Build control-oriented vehicle models and implement model-based algorithms for electric drivetrains and chassis systems.Develop high-performance control systems using Matlab/Simulink and deploy them to embedded vehicle systemsPartner with hardware and mechanical teams to align sensing and actuation with target vehicle motion attributes.Root-cause low-level control issues and tune loops to maximize system precision, safety, and performance.Calibrate and debug algorithms through SIL/HIL simulations and hands-on field testing.Drive innovation in agricultural robotics through strategic project planning and rapid, iterative problem-solving.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities for Success:

    Proven experience in control systems, encompassing ground-up design, analysis, implementation, testing, and debugging in real-world applications.Solid foundation in first principles linear systems analysis and state-estimation.Expertise in designing and implementing reliable and performant control systems.Proficiency in software development using C/C++Understanding of embedded systems architecture, including microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces, with specific experience with CAN in embedded vehicle systems.Demonstrated solid experience with MATLAB/Simulink for system modeling and model-based controls development.Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally, work hands-on, and successfully execute open-ended projects in a fast-paced environment.Hands-on experience with electric vehicle architecture, including high-voltage (HV) batteries, power distribution systems, and motor invertersDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or equivalent experience.Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.

    As a Electrical Engineer at Carbon Robotics will work with the manufacturing teams to provide support with Engineering collaboration.     As a Wiring Harness Engineer at Carbon Robotics be a key part of the team that designs and lays out the wiring interconnect system, testing new systems and iterating on designs with your mechanical and software peers.
