  • Manufacturing Engineer  

    - Point Of Rocks

    Multi-location responsibility for designing, implementing and reviewing the process, procedures and equipment utilized in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Duties will include but are not limited to continuous improvement activities, equipment design/specification and capital project management. Works closely with the Operations and Maintenance teams and requires a hands-on approach. This position will work out of the Point of Rocks, MD location with some work from home flexibility as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Maintains a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in a professional manner with customers, co-workers, clients, and supervisors. Manages direct reports through coaching and supporting their training, development, and productivity. Researches and implements new technology to assist the organization in achieving desired manufacturing goals. Views all improvements and existing processes through a safety lens ensuring any proposed changes or existing safety levels meet company safety and environmental standards. Assists in standardization efforts for mechanical and electrical components across enterprise. Reviews and calculates labor, materials and other manufacturing costs for use in decision making relative to investment or improvement opportunities. Analyzes and plans workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve manufacturing efficiency. Works closely with maintenance departments to establish Preventative Maintenance requirements and assist in scheduled downtime initiatives such as equipment installations, rebuilds or upgrades. Fills project management duties regarding facility improvements, expansions, equipment purchases, installations or upgrades. Duties include budget, schedule, scope and performance oversight. Acts as a technical liaison between vendors and management team. Fulfills primary contact role with vendors for quotation, execution of work, change orders and signoff. Identifies opportunities in the process to reduce costs and improve quality. Provides criteria and certifies Factory Acceptance Testing for new equipment.   • Indirect Procurement Manager

    Canam Steel Corporation is looking for an Indirect Procurement Manager to join our growing team. This position follows a hybrid work model, with the expectation to be onsite at our Point of Rocks, MD or Jacksonville, FL location up to three (3) days per week, or as determined by your manager based on team and business needs. The remaining days may be worked remotely. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our location. Flexibility in the hybrid schedule may vary depending on departmental needs. JOB SUMMARY Responsible to develop and implement sourcing strategies and ongoing management of critical activities to reduce costs without compromising quality in key sourcing categories. The individual will be responsible for strategic sourcing, negotiations and management of major contracts for the company, focused on indirect products (non-steel) and logistics. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and implement sourcing strategies for indirect categories to ensue sustainable competitive advantage. Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and logistic providers. Guide internal teams through supplier selection, contract compliance, and performance management. Maintain vendor relationships, conduct market analysis, and lead supplier business reviews. Identify, implement and manage key procurement metrics (KPIs) to drive decision making and continuous improvement efforts. Liaise with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to align sourcing with product requirements and project goals. In partnership with the Logistics Manager, develop and manage a carrier system that ensures on-time, cost-effective delivery, evaluate in-house vs. external freight options and negotiate transportation terms, track freight cost vs. budget, validate cost estimation tools, and manage incident response. Tack welds or clamps parts into position ready for moving along conveyor to final welding area.
