    Compensation

    $140k - $165k/year DOE

    Responsibilities
    • Evaluate process conditions, provide analysis, and coordinate the implementation of process improvements in the cement plants and other processes
    • Take field measurements, compile process information, perform literature research, and provide data analysis and reporting
    • Assist with improving process control, product quality, and efficiencies in the manufacturing process
    • Assist the Energy Management Team with identifying and implementing energy efficiency projects
    • Assist and develop projects that will help Calportland towards the TCC and California CO2 emission goals
    • Review new capital project equipment and process design
    • Design new plant process equipment to optimize plant performance and achieve project objectives
    • Evaluate plant emissions and develop solutions to comply with regulations
    • Identify problem areas and work with plant personnel, engineering, and environmental staff to design and implement solutions
    • Work with automation and control systems and, if required, assist with software and graphics development.
    • Assist with new process area system start-up and commissioning
    • Manage capital improvement projects as assigned
    • Ensure a safe work environment in the execution of all duties and activities
    Education

    Bachelor of Science degree in chemical, mechanical, or equivalent engineering

    Requirements/Qualifications
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in cement manufacturing
    • Will be required to travel to company facilities and other locations
    • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently
    • Must be able to work cooperatively with plant and corporate personnel
    • Must have the ability to multi-task with competing priorities
    • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Will be required to lead meetings, maintain records, develop reports, and make presentations
    • Must have above-average mathematical abilities

    Preferred:

    • Familiarity with Expert control system, Process control, Emission control and PID tuning

    Compensation

    $95,000 to $105,000 Depending on Experience

    Responsibilities
    • Ability to assist and support the Plant Automation Engineer with the operation, maintenance, and programming of all plant instrument/analyzer systems including logic, analog and graphics, and all other technology that may be acquired
    • Assist in the maintenance of instrument/analyzer/electrical systems, server-based high-level analyzer systems, and data historians such as OSI Pi, FLS ECS/QCX; assist CIS with the maintenance of corporate IT network
    • Work with the plant's team to develop new control systems applications for projects
    • Work with the energy team to identify improvements and participate in energy audits
    • Assist with all aspects of capital projects including sizing of conductors and protective devices; load calculations for new and existing power systems in preparation for additions, changes, and capital projects interconnecting to the plant electrical system
    • Identify worn and defective components as well as appropriate replacements; provide field inspections and supervision for electrical work on projects
    • Support plant by diagnosing and correcting electrical problems
    • Provide technical and safety training to Plant Electricians
    • Complete design and drawing updates for replacement components
    • Ability to apply corporate standards to designs and solutions suggested/implemented; use new technologies at the plant such as smart MCCs, including design, training of electricians, and updating documentation/diagnostic systems
    • Replace or upgrade worn and depreciated components; design, change, and modify instrument/analyzer systems
    • Create and submit capital proposals
    Education

    Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

    Requirements/Qualifications
    • Willing and able to work flexible hours as needed to maintain plant instrument/analyzer systems
    • Must be a self-starter and be able to work independently
    • Ability to maintain skills as necessary to keep pace with the ever-changing and improving technology for plant instrument/analyzer systems
    • Strong communications and management skills - will work with, direct, assist and/or follow vendor services for troubleshooting and maintenance of all instrument/analyzer systems
    • Troubleshooting skills and critical thinking are a must
    • Ability to read and edit process flow drawings; the ability to read and create logic decision charts
    • Ability to travel - required to travel to company facilities and other meeting locations on occasion
    • Must be able to work cooperatively with plant and corporate personnel

    Preferred:

    • Prior experience in computer automated control and instrumentation and/or cement production processes
    • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • Understanding of instrument/analyzer system fundamentals
    • Power distribution systems, relays, medium volt switchgear, instrumentation, PLC's, VFD's, etc.

    Responsibilities
    • Responsible for machinery reliability improvement and engineering
    • Assists with maintenance planning, daily and yearly outages and predictive maintenance
    • Manages spare parts
    • Plans, coordinates and schedules work required
    • Supervises contractors and orders materials to ensure efficiency and success
    • Assists with capital budget and maintenance projects
    • Provides guidance to the mechanical maintenance personnel in the repair, maintenance and installation functions
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Education

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

    Requirements/Qualifications
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Knowledge of the principles of predictive, preventive and corrective maintenance
    • Strong communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Physical requirements: standing, stooping, walking on various surfaces and terrains, climbing up to 380 feet, lifting up to 70 lbs., walking long distances, ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings
    • Must be able to work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions and near hot kiln process
    • Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
    • Exposure to cement, clay, limestone and various lab chemicals; see MSDS for more details
    • Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces

    Preferred:

    • Experience in project work in a manufacturing environment, preferably a cement plant
    • Experience with ERP system, preferably SAP
