    Description
    THIS RECRUITMENT IS A CONTINUOUS OPENING AND WILL BE USED TO FILL POSITIONS AS THEY BECOME AVALIABLE.
    Hiring range for this position is $37,190.40 - $44,428.80. Initial placement for new employees is customarily at entry level through 35% percentile. Pay grade for this position is 12.
    Must be at least 19 years of age or older to work as a transportation driver for Cabarrus County.
    General Definition of Work:

    Performs intermediate semiskilled work operating passenger vehicles to transport clients; assisting in overseeing operations. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Transportation Supervisor.
    Examples of Duties
    Essential Functions:

    * Transporting clients to designated sites.

    * Assisting with boarding and exiting vehicle.

    * Inspecting vehicles.

    * Preparing and maintaining files and records.

    Typical Tasks:

    * Picks-up, drives and drops clients off at designated locations.

    * Assists clients with boarding and getting off vehicles, including operating vehicle wheelchair lift equipment.

    * Completes pre and post trip maintenance and safety inspections; performs general maintenance tasks.

    * Documents mileage readings for riders on manifest log and completes other record keeping requirements.

    * Operates 2-way radios to communicate with agency base for coordination of trips.

    * Attends division and program in-services and trainings.

    * Maintains vehicle cleanliness, both interior and exterior.

    * Performs general office assistance work as required.

    * Assists with maintenance scheduling for vehicles.

    * Assists with maintenance of automated transit dispatch system.

    * Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

    * Performs related tasks as required.
    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Thorough knowledge of regions traffic rules and regulations; ; basic knowledge of radio 10-codes; working knowledge of and ability to operate RouteMatch mobile data terminal; ability to operate passenger vehicles and related equipment safely and efficiently; ability to remain alert and to remain calm during the periods of stress; ability to keep records and prepare reports; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates and the general public; ability to interact effectively with special needs population; ability to relay clear and professional radio communications; and ability to attend work regularly. Must be able to physically provide full service and assistance as required to ridership including, but not limited to the securement; transport; and mobility assistance requirements of the wheelchair bound and ADA populations.
    Special Requirements:

    Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina. Must meet all DOT requirements for the position. Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial driver's license with proper endorsements and all required certifications; First Aid; CPR; Defensive Driver Course; Wheelchair Securement; Blood borne Pathogen. Position is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
    Position is essential as defined by the Inclement Weather Plan. Due to the nature of the job and the needs of the agency, position may require working longer than eight hours per day or 40 hours per week to complete needed trips. Weekend and Holiday work are required.

    Minimum Education / Experience requirements
    Education and Experience:
    Requires graduation from high school. Previous public transportation service and/or public health experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

    Must be 19 years of age or older with 3 years of clean driving record.

    Physical Requirements:

    This recruitment will be used to fill a variety of full-time vacancies throughout the Eligibility Services Department to include Medicaid Expansion positions.

    Medicaid Expansion positions are contingent based on funding.

    General Definition of Work:
    Performs intermediate paraprofessional work involving the determination or redetermination of the eligibility of applicants or recipients requesting medical through the Department of Social Services. Work is circumscribed by a variety of federal, state and county court decisions, laws, policies, regulations, and procedures. Work is reviewed through case review, observation, and periodic conferences. Work is performed under regular supervision.

    Education and Experience:
    Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, Accounting, or a closely related curriculum; or Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of eligibility determination experience, preferably in North Carolina, including but not limited to Food and Nutrition Services, Medicaid, Work First, Crisis Assistance, or Daycare Assistance, or Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or public contact experience that includes negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analyzing data, and/or performing mathematical, accounting, case management, or legal tasks. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
    One year of experience may be substituted for the NC FAST Human Services Certification. Candidates must have completed Phases I and II of the NC FAST Human Services Certification program and be able to provide supporting documentation upon request.
    NC FAST Human Services Certification and/or experience is strongly preferred.
