We are looking for a self-motivated, detail-oriented, ambitious team player to join our growing team as an Entry-Level Cable Technician with lots of room for growth! This position is focused on new Category 5e and Category 6 cabling and fiber optic installations, in addition to AV, security surveillance, and access control projects. Candidates should have a solid foundation in low-voltage installations and a strong desire to grow their skill set in the field.
The Cable Technician will primarily be responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and troubleshooting copper, coax, and fiber optic cables. You may also be requested to assist in other areas such as the installation of professional AV/video conferencing systems, security cameras, and access control solutions.
BCS regularly works on Prevailing Wage projects. As part of our team, you’ll gain exposure to both commercial and Prevailing Wage environments, with the opportunity to expand your skills while ensuring work is completed in compliance with specifications and wage requirements.

Run, terminate, pull, and test copper cable (Category 5e and Category 6)Run, terminate, pull, and test fiber optic cable and A/V (coax, etc.) cableAssemble new rack equipment (2-post, 4-post, ladder racking, wire-management, etc.)Test and troubleshoot miscellaneous cabling and A/V issuesInstall other items such as access points, time clocks, paging equipment, A/V equipment, etc.Perform all work in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and Prevailing Wage requirements when applicableOther tasks as neededQualifications & Experience:

Position Overview
This is an in-house position based out of our Irvine office. While the majority of responsibilities are office-based, travel to customer sites will be required for project meetings, site surveys, coordination, and to support successful project execution.
What You'll Do
Manage local projects from kickoff through closeout.Coordinate schedules, labor, materials, subcontractors, and customer communication.Gather, procure, and stage parts and materials to support field technicians.Develop proposals, scopes of work, bills of materials, and project estimates.Review drawings and assist with system design.Work closely with customers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure successful project execution.Support service requests and help maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.Track project progress, budgets, and documentation.Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to the continued growth of the company.
What We're Looking For
Experience with project management, project coordination, design, estimating, or service coordination.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and customer service skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Experience reviewing drawings and preparing proposals and scopes of work.Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field technicians, vendors, and customers.Comfortable visiting customer sites as needed for meetings, site walks, surveys, and project support.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Preferred Qualifications
Industry experience in structured cabling, audiovisual, networking, security, or other low-voltage systems.Experience with project management and coordination.Experience developing estimates, bills of materials, and system designs.Proficiency with Bluebeam and AutoCAD is a plus.Experience with ConnectWise is a plus.Familiarity with reading construction drawings and specifications.Experience working in commercial low-voltage environments is highly desirable.Must be exceptionally detail-oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy in all aspects of work.The ideal candidate is highly thorough, proactive, and committed to delivery quality work with precision.

The Lead Cable Tech MUST HAVE experience with AV, security surveillance, and access control solutions. The Lead Cable Tech will be highly skilled in the installation of advanced professional audio, video, and video conferencing solutions in the commercial AV integration industry. Install new low-voltage, A/V, and fiber optic cabling at client job sites (including renovations and new construction in office and warehouse environments)Perform site surveys for clients and Sales Department for project bid opportunitiesProvide material and labor estimates for internal Sales DepartmentAssist in design and configuration of server room/rack equipment environmentsTroubleshoot miscellaneous cabling and A/V issuesInstall other items such as access points, time clocks, paging equipment, etc.Complete all work in compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and Prevailing Wage requirements where applicableOther items as needed
