We are looking for Diesel Mechanics at our Bakersfield, CA Division
SALARY RANGE: $34.85 - $36.10
+ $3000.00 Hiring Bonus
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
* Will perform major and minor engine repairs and accessories
* Will respond to road call and perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
* Diagnoses/rebuild/repair vehicles and equipment.
* Performs detailed inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, remove and repair engines.
* Remove and replace transmissions and brakes.
* Repair, mount and dismount tires.
* Repair and replace hydraulic hoses.
* Remove and replace brakes
* Prepares and maintains records and reports.
* Must follow all safety procedures and policies.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
* Diagnosing mechanical problems and performing repairs. Safety practices and procedures.
* Working knowledge of:
* Mechanical design and fabrication.
* Electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
* Skill in:
* Use of power and hand tools.
* Use of diagnostic equipment.
* Acetylene and electric arc welding.
* Operation of vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
* Ability to:
* Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
* Diagnose problems and make repairs in the field.
* Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
* Work extended hours outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
* Prepare and maintain records and reports.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
* Follow written and verbal instructions, including manufacturers' service specifications.
* Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
* Minimum of 5 years exp. on heavy duty diesel and gasoline truck repair.
PHYSICAL:
* Must be able to lift and pull 75 lbs.
* Physical demands include bending, lifting, reaching, climbing, and standing.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Will be exposed to outdoor weather heat, cold, rain, wind.
* Will be exposed to moderate levels of noise and dust.
* Will be exposed to working on slippery conditions and cramped positions.
* Work is performed around, vibrations, moving objects, noise, dirt, dust, chemicals, fuels including diesel, gasoline, and various natural gases.
