Summary: Develop, apply and maintain quality requirements and standards for the development and manufacture of quality products. Serve as main quality contact person in regards to part acceptability and works directly with production, sales and engineering to meet customer expectations. While working with QA Manager and leadership, assists BTD departments in problem solving, corrective actions and internal and external quality audits. Is a resource to train and improve operator awareness in regards to achieving customer quality expectations and requirements. Communicate all improvements made to ensure future estimates and processing plans of current product are accurate. Actively participates in a safety process or project such as the safety committee, safety inspections, etc. Essential Functions: Works with QA Manager and leadership to ensure BTD's quality reputation and customer expectations are not compromised. Participates in design review process, to ensure manufacturability of new products; reviews prints, customer specifications, and solid model if provided. Where problematic parts exist, in regards to process capability and as it affects part quality, engages Engineering, QA and process experts to improve process capability. Works with Sales, QA Manager and their customers to understand customer's specifications, part application, inspection methods, production processes and all other factors affecting the production of the customer's parts. Works with Sales and the QA Manager to established working relationships with customers, to assure that communication is being executed effectively. Communicates in person with customers as needed. Identifies weaknesses in BTD processes that negatively affect part quality and contributes ideas for corrective action. While working with QA Manager and leadership, participates in corrective action process; works cooperatively with responsible area to ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented. Leads containment activity and ensures customer relationship and BTD image not adversely affected from quality spill. Responsible for assigning SPS storyboard for major quality problems. Works with QA Manager and problem solving team in completing SPS storyboard. Works with QA Manager and leadership to create and implement customer QIP's as needed. Keeps customer updated on progress and works with customer on QIP terms, conveys terms to the organization. Understands the process to create process flow diagrams, PFMEA's, and control plans as required for PPAP submission. Works with QA manager to allocate resources to assure that PPAP requirements are met for their customer accounts. Performs audits (ISO/LPA's) to validate adherence to BTD management system; assists QA Manager and leadership with developing appropriate corrective actions. Participates in morning MRB committee to assure that nonconforming product is dispositioned. Participates in afternoon RA review meeting to disposition RA's from the previous day. Possesses the skills to manage customer quality projects. Strong working knowledge of the equipment, materials, methods and practices in use of metal manufacturing operations. Working knowledge of medium to heavy manufacturing environment. Ability to read, interpret and understand the use and application of production blueprints and specifications. Ability to perform quality inspections of products. Ability to establish, encourage and maintain effective working relationships with others.
