    Your Role at BSI

    With the focus to serve the client and provide superior project delivery, the architecture group works closely with all engineering disciplines and provides technical leadership for the team.     Responsibilities and Scope

    BSI Engineering is searching for a student interested in an exciting opportunity to work with our Instrumentation, Controls, and Automation Department. Our ICA Department Engineers design /select process instrumentation and control systems for use in chemical manufacturing, food and beverage, renewable energies, pharmaceutical, and aviation industries. The department has design engineering experience with all aspects of PLC & DCS based control system design, implementation, retrofits, hybrid control systems, and instrumentation projects.

    We are seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Designer co-op employee for the Fall of 2026. We will provide a learning environment supervised by senior engineers and designers with extensive experience in instrumentation and automation. BSI recognizes the value in helping develop future Designers to meet the needs of industry and is prepared to pair each co-op employee with a mentor/staff who are eager to share their knowledge with the next generation of automation professionals.


    Responsibilities and Scope

    With supervision, AutoCAD development and modification of instrumentation project drawings including control panel drawings, instrument plan drawings, PLC/DCS card elementary drawings, Instrumentation Loop drawings, and miscellaneous wiring diagrams Data entry of related project information into an Instrumentation and Control Systems DatabaseAssists in the development of mechanical and electrical instrument installation details Assists in the development of cable schedules and wiring diagrams for instrumentation and control panels Review of control system and instrument cut sheets / installation manuals With supervision, performs necessary calculations and design effort to prepare deliverablesUtilizes design criteria document(s) to meet the project objectivesCoordinates work with engineers and designers for project-based workOccasionally interfaces with other design discipline counterparts and project managementWith supervision, participates in multi-discipline squad checks of deliverables before issuance to clientsFollows BSI Standard Operating Procedures and Client Standards as requiredAssists in gathering field data as required

    Our Electrical Engineering team has many years of experience designing power distribution systems for clients in many different industries. Our Electrical Engineers work closely with our full-service team to ensure a fully integrated design package of the highest quality is provided. They assess client needs and create designs that ensure Code compliance and personnel safety, while achieving the client’s desired goals. Project scopes will range from full facility and process designs for greenfield projects to retrofits and upgrades of equipment in existing sites.

    Responsibilities and Scope

    Execute electrical engineering design scope for single and multi-discipline projects while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards.     Responsibilities and Scope

    Developing, implementing, and maintaining BIM workflow and standards in Revit within our department and in coordination with those outside the department.Support project start-up workflow, helping teams develop strategies for effective delivery of quality documents, and ensure that each one is setup correctly.Oversee the use of BIM/Revit software within the department as well as analyzing and solving BIM user issues.Provide end-user training, support, and leadership within the department.Support the department by creating content libraries and template files and conducting intermittent model audits to ensure proper families and standards are being utilized and met.Manage the implementation of supporting software and plug-ins for BIM.Research and stay up to date on the best practices for use of Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM. Evaluate new BIM related software and technologies.Ability to use Dynamo and Python for automation.Development and enforcement of BIM documentation and workflow process standards.Train and oversee the day-to-day activities of BIM users to ensure BIM standards are maintained in the creation of BIM models.Ensures quality and technical accuracy of project deliverablesWith supervision, performs or ensures applicable calculations and design effort to prepare drawings deliverablesEnsures discipline's design is accurate and coordinated within the 2D drawings and/or 3D model and/or site scans

    Qualifications

    Associate Civil/Structural Engineering Technology Degree and/or Computer Drafting and Design Degree preferred but not required; High School Diploma requiredProficient experience with Revit and NavisworksBIM experience with generating and maintaining project drawings/modelsStrong communication and decision making skills 5+ years of industry experience preferred
