We're looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer responsible for generating sales of first mortgage and home equity loan products through outside sources — including personal networks, referral partners, previous clients, and industry professionals. Loans are to be originated in alignment with secondary market standards, private investor requirements, private mortgage insurance guidelines, and Credit Union policies and procedures.     Primary duties involve making outside sales of first mortgage and home equity loan products for the Credit Union.Prequalifies members and potential members to appropriate loan products based on individual credit profiles and credit needs. Analyzes application to determine documents necessary to submit loan application for processing. Obtains tax returns, bank statements, etc., from member as needed.Generate new business by building and maintaining relationships with industry professionals including realtors, attorneys, financial advisers, CPA’s, and other relevant professionals.Regularly participate in Sales activities including Realtor Calls, attending open houses, conducting seminars, and other lead generating activities.Provides product, process, and rate strategy improvement recommendations to the Mortgage Management team. Keeps up to date on mortgage market dynamics to ensure recommendations adequately researched.Maintains knowledge of current changes to investor guidelines, product changes, the general financial industry, and the real estate market in which the originator is assigned.Maintains knowledge of compliance laws applicable to mortgage and home equity loan originations including Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Regulation Z (Truth in Lending, Good Faith Estimate), Regulation C (Home Mortgage Disclosure Act – HMDA), and other state and federal laws which may be applicable.Maintains knowledge of all Credit Union products and services for the benefit of cross-selling to members or potential members.Prepares the first mortgage applications in the loan origination system. Runs the credit, submits to DU, and discusses options with the Member. Completes follow-up to ensure the application remains in compliance with regulations and MVCU processes and procedures.Submits well prepared and organized mortgage loan and home equity loan application packages to loan processing within specified time periods, including accurate and detailed information input into the Encompass systems.Provides feedback to management with regard to competitor’s pricing, products, and other applicable issues, as they may become known.

Provides portfolio management, tracking reporting and file maintenance including tracking financial statements and completing annual reviews, covenant compliance, UCC and insurance expirations, and payment performance. Conducts site visits (as needed with Loan Officer) and prepares site visit reports for loans in assigned portfolio. Ensures adherence to Credit policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements.     Processes a wide variety of transactions for members including, but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, payroll adjustments, bank checks, gift cards, VISA cash advances, IRA deposits/withdrawals in accordance with established Credit Union policies and procedures. Consistently develops potential new business by uncovering clues and needs during interactions with members, presenting the benefits of those products/services and referring the member to the appropriate CU partner for fulfillment. Provides the highest quality member service by listening, communication, and referring members to appropriate personnel as necessary to meet quarterly goals.Uses sound judgement and interpersonal skills to effectively assist members.Maintains and balances a backup cash vault, if assigned by Branch Manager.Assists in training new Tellers. Participates in opening and closing the branch.Interacts with members and staff on a daily basis in prompt, effective and professional manner.Balances cash drawer and makes settlement of the day's activities in accordance with Credit Union policies and procedures.Ensures that cash limits are consistently followed as per established Credit Union procedures, cash is kept secure at all times and locked in the vault each night.Assists members with accessing their safe deposit boxes.Answers telephones, provides information and/or directs caller to appropriate department/employee.Assists in opening the night depository and logs deposits as needed.Participates in balancing ATM, under dual control, as necessary.Adheres to all aspects of the Credit Union Bank Secrecy Act policy and procedures.Ability to work some Saturdays during the month and occasionally provides temporary coverage in alternate locations for an unplanned absence situation.Works towards achieving sale/service goals by attending department meetings, on-on-one meetings, and product knowledge and selling skills training on an ongoing basis.Performs additional duties as requested.

    What We’re Looking For (Your Qualifications)

    Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree preferred. Minimum of two years Customer Service experience preferably in a financial institution.Strong interpersonal, written/verbal communication and organization skills required.Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with members and staff is essential.Experience with personal computers in a windows environment including Outlook, Excel and Word.Flexibility of work hours and proven reliability/dependability required.Must be able to handle multiple tasks effectively and accurately.Must have excellent cross-selling and problem solving skills.Must possess a professional and positive attitude and image to all of our members, at all times.Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System & Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration with NMLS as a registered Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
