    Under the supervision of the Upper School Principal, the Upper School Assistant Principal supports the leadership, supervision, and evaluation of instructional and support staff across two grade levels. As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, this role contributes to schoolwide decision making and strategic planning. The Assistant Principal works closely with the Principal to drive improvements aligned with the Boston Renaissance Charter Public School's priorities, including student achievement, effective resource management, and strong staff communication. This role also supports the Principal in key leadership functions as an instructional leader, site manager, and culture builder. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Staff Development Support and promote effective, research based teaching and learning practices Supervise and evaluate instructional staff to ensure high quality instruction and improved student outcomes Monitor student growth and ensure teachers effectively track and respond to achievement data Co-plan and cofacilitate Instructional Leadership Team meetings Collaborate with the Curriculum Coordinator and instructional coaches to drive continuous improvement using academic standards and assessment data Supervise and evaluate instructional coaches Assist in setting and maintaining high standards for student achievement Operations & School Management Partner with the Principal to develop budget recommendations for the Upper School Prepare reports and maintain accurate records Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations Manage purchase orders and maintain inventory Support staffing processes, including recruitment, hiring, and retention with a focus on diversity Screen candidates, coordinate interviews and demo lessons, and submit hiring documentation to Human Resources Student & Family Support Serve as a point of contact for the Dean of Students on student related matters as needed Work with the Attendance Officer to monitor attendance trends, conduct outreach to families, attend meetings, and support follow up actions Serve as a primary point of contact for families Attend occasional evening events such as parent-teacher conferences and school celebrations School Culture & Collaboration Assist in building a positive and inclusive school culture Support staff organization and assignments aligned with the school's strategic plan Perform additional duties as assigned to support school goals and performance standards Qualifications Master's degree required, or a bachelor's degree with active pursuit of a master's degree in Education Appropriate DESE licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure Minimum of 7 years of teaching experience Experience in instructional coaching, leadership, or supervision preferred Additional Information Term: Academic Administrative Work Year (school year plus 15 additional days) Read Less

Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students and employs a variety of instructional techniques and media. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and - in harmony with the goals - establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Strive to implement by instruction and action of BRCPS's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives. Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, school policy, and administrative regulations. Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluate their job performance. Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts Works under the general supervision of the Upper School Director and or other designated administrator Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
