    Bonneville Labs is looking for a Lab Operations Specialist 1 to join our team! We pride ourselves on providing outstanding customer service to our members and that begins with our laboratory operations staff. This role will play a critical part in providing that exemplary service as you will be the hands and feet on the ground to meet customer needs and requirements. This role will be similar in nature to a maintenance and facilities type role as you will focus on ensuring a neat, clean and tidy workspace for our members.

    The Laboratory Operations Specialist I plays a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of Bonneville Labs (BVL) by providing essential services, supplies, and equipment to support scientific research. This position collaborates with cross-functional teams and member companies to improve operational processes, maintain a safe and efficient working environment, and deliver outstanding customer service. Ideal for someone with a passion for research environments and process improvement, this role offers opportunities for professional development and growth in the life sciences industry.

    What Youll Do

    Collaborate with other Bonneville Labs (BVL) staff deliver exceptional customer service and support for our member companies across our lab facilities in Hayward, Berkeley, and South San Francisco.Proactively interact with member scientists to identify and resolve issues with services, equipment, and supplies. Use an electronic ticket system to record issues and report progress to requestors.Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with BVL clients, ensuring effective communication and a cooperative working environment.Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) associated with the BVL document management system.Assist in coordinating outside vendors for lab equipment preventative maintenance.Understand operational laboratory workflows and successfully balancing routines tasks and ad-hoc assignments to ensure smooth operations.Suggest ideas and solutions for site improvements and increase efficiency.Help improve existing policies and procedures that act as a template for current and future BVL sites.Perform direct administrative tasks that may include invoicing, maintaining spreadsheets, file management, mailing and shipping packages, organizing procedures, overseeing supplies and equipment, and updating database.Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues by accepting feedback and contributing ideas, fostering a team-oriented work environment.Use courtesy, tact, and firmness in dealing with the public; evaluate alternative solutions and present recommendations; interact with the public effectively and courteously.Facility and equipment maintenance, day-to-day procedures, following internal procedures and direct instruction, which can include:Receiving packages from external carriers and deliver to internal recipientsRemove medical / biohazardous waste from laboratories and transfer to onsite accumulation areaKeep common instrument areas clean and orderly. Clean exterior surfaces of common instrumentsMonitor levels of common-use dry ice and liquid nitrogen, refill as necessaryEnter newly received chemicals into chemical inventoryAssist with inventory system and track supplies across departmentsAutoclave dishes and media as a service for membersMoving and bracing equipmentPreparing common lab solutions such as 70% IPAMaintaining biosafety cabinets and incubators, including regular sterilizationsInspect and label safety shower / eyewash stations and fire extinguishersDefrost freezers and perform cold storage inspectionsSpill kit, fire extinguisher and eyewash inspectionsSupport waste management, clean and maintain the common spaceGeneral cleaning and sanitization of the facility including miscellaneous cleaning tasks as needed

    What Were Looking For - Required


    1 year experience in a professional environment, laboratory setting (preferred)Experience in a customer facing roleOrganized, independent, team player, able to follow instructions, good written and verbal communication skills in English, strong computer skills and customer serviceAble to work in a flexible and fast paced environment that is constantly changingReliable Transportation: Due to the nature of this role, reliable transportation is required to ensure timely arrival at work locations, meetings, and/or client sites. This includes having access to a personal vehicle or other transportation methods that are dependable and can be used as needed for job duties.Able to lift 50 lbs., sit for extended periods of time in front of a computerExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

Total Compensation will be based on experience and most roles include a bonus structure based off company performance.Commute: Travel to and from work (your designated base of operations) is part of the role and considered part of your commute to work, these expenses will not be reimbursed.Travel: Travel to other Bonneville Labs sites or to our member sites (within the Bay Area) may be required for this role.     Bonneville Labs is looking for a Lab Operations Specialist Team Lead to join our team! The Laboratory Operations Specialist Team Lead for our facility will act as a critical part of Bonneville Labs operations team as they will oversee all support for the sites daily operations and participate in a wide variety of projects. Reporting directly to the Head of Laboratory Operations this individual will need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively to provide status and reports on members, facility and equipment conditions as well as any other issues that may arise or need to be escalated as appropriate. This individual will also be key in providing suggestions on process improvements to continue the growth, development and continued professionalism of Bonneville Labs.


    They will work both independently and collaboratively with other members of the Bonneville Laboratory Operations team to support the development of processes that provide member companies with the services, supplies, and equipment they require to successfully conduct their research. To achieve success, the Laboratory Operations Specialist Team Lead will be team-oriented, interact with a diverse group of member staff, and thrive in a fast-paced and demanding research environment.


    This individual will also provide supervision and leadership to the lab ops team directly onsite at Berkeley.

    What Youll Do

    Complete daily, weekly and monthly work orders related to equipment maintenance, waste management and space upkeep.Participate in onboarding of operations staff by providing hands-on training as detailed in Bonneville Labs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Ensure all SOPs are executed and followed appropriately.Support site customers by responding and completing work orders in a timely manner.Oversee system health checks on our monitoring system by performing updates, maintenance, setting checks and reporting.Actively update and confirm site space management for updates to software (OfficeRnD) by tracking equipment, memberships, and making all necessary changes within a timely manner.Support property management interactions including addressing and providing follow-up on any property issues/concerns, conducting monthly facility inspections. Participate in periodic meetings with property managers to ensure a strong relationship.Support EH&S Department on follow up on CAPAs and other safety related initiatives.Perform beginning and end of day organization and prep to ensure priorities are met and staff are prepared for their daily tasks.

    Team Leader Responsibilities

    Bonneville Labs is hiring for a Site Lead & Cross-Site Supervisor to join our team! This role will be an exempt position and report directly to the Head of Lab Operations. This individual may choose either our Hayward or Berkeley facility as their work site. This individual will lead the site, be back-up support for Head of Operations, and support with a wide-variety of projects. Working both independently and with other members of the Bonneville Lab Operations team to develop processes that provide member companies with the services, supplies, and equipment they need to accomplish their research. The position will also include tracking and partially managing the current processes while suggesting process improvements. The Site Lead & Cross-Site Supervisor will be team-oriented, interact with a diverse group of member staff, and flourish in a fast-paced and demanding research environment.


    What You'll Do:

    Site / Team Leader (~60%)

    What We're Looking For:

    Our top candidate will have proven track record in managing laboratory operations, promoting a collaborative environment and navigating the unique challenges of a start-up or small biotech company (50 employees or less). Ideally you would have experience performing minor equipment repair and maintenance on standard lab equipment (refrigerators, freezers, incubators, centrifuges, etc.) It would be preferred for this individual to have a background in customer service and be capable of managing and delegating work to team members. This experience would provide you with the insight and knowledge of managing lean operations.
