    Hurd Construction Management is seeking a full-time Jacksonville, FL area based Commercial Construction Superintendent to serve in the North Florida territory,

    Who is Hurd Construction Management?

    Hurd Construction Managementis a Jacksonville, Florida based construction advisor and general contracting firm specializing in commercial buildouts and renovations, new construction and development where delivering a strong and consistent brand experience is crucial. Projects primarily include retail, restaurant, office and other commercial spaces throughout the entire state of Florida.     What does the role pay?

    This is a full-time Jacksonville and northeast Florida area based role with a pay range of $80,000 to $105,000 total compensation package including annual bonus at plan. Base salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.

    Role Summary

    Reporting to the Construction Operations Manager, the Superintendent is responsible for managingall functions of the job site as they relate to construction, providing hands-on field supervision for site operations including direct supervision of assistants, subcontractors, vendors, craftsmen, and other construction-related personnel. Directs trades in planning, coordination, and execution of work on time and within budget while achieving consistent, high-quality standards of workmanship and safety practices.


    Primary Responsibilities

    Responsible for pre-planning and scheduling of job site activity, construction, and presentation of the job site throughout the construction process.Collaborates with the Project Manager to select subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and related construction personnel when needed.Establish working relationships and/or maintain communication as needed with the customer/owner, architect, project manager, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, and appropriate city officials and inspectors.Plan, implement, and update as required in conjunction with Project Manager all construction methods, materials handling, crew sizes and deployment, equipment requirements, and task sequences.Review and verify dimensions within contracted drawings and as related to coordinate shop drawings.Oversees layout of accurate lines and grades for all work.Adheres to contract specifications, Purchase Orders (POs), subcontracts, and permitting agencies for all required inspections.Initiates all job site safety and accident prevention efforts by holding weekly safety meetings and inspections for written reports.Continuously maintains a safe and clean work site by implementing good housekeeping regulations and safety requirements. Enforces proper safety attire and observance of BHRS/Hurd's safety rules, OSHA, and any state-level agencies' regulations.Comprehensive knowledge of applicable building codes, local ordinances, and OSHA requirements.Immediately investigates, documents, and reports all accidents.Reports, verifies, and documents to the Project Manager verbal work requested by the customer/owner or necessitated by job conditions beyond the original contract documents, and coordinates with the Project Manager to determine additional costs, pricing, and scheduling impact.Purchases requisition equipment and/or miscellaneous materials to increase productivity, efficiency, and profitability.Prepare, submit, and follow up RFIs and applicable project correspondence.Monitor cleanliness and hold the subcontractors and vendors responsible for daily clean-up.Conduct detailed inspections after each trade has completed its tasks and before any work is authorized for payment.Develop a punch list and execute the completion of each item before owner walk-through to ensure cleanliness, quality standards, and thorough implementation.Prepare and submit company account reconciliation reports with receipts for project-related purchases including miscellaneous materials, supplies, equipment rental, or overhead.Act as Hurd's on site security representative.Continuously inspects for high-quality workmanship, and compliance with engineered drawings and resolves quality assurance deficiencies.


    Additional Responsibilities

    Reviews project submittals.Organizes and conducts weekly subcontractor and vendor progress meetings. Documents and maintains accurate meeting minutes.Conducts new-hire safety orientation utilizing BHRS' Work Safe-Work Smart code of safe practices.Verifies valid/current insurance of all on-site companies prior to work performance.Oversees field office files and is responsible for processing delivery tickets and invoices.Prepares daily reports and communicates project activity to the Project Manager.Posts required documentation in compliance with national, state, and local labor laws.Ensure new hire team assimilation and on-the-job success factors (ie. PPE, dress code, safety awareness, quality standards).Assists in applicable job site training of Assistant Project Managers and Assistant Superintendents on site.Maintains good community relations and clearly identifies job sites with proper signage placed appropriately according to Hurd's standards.Receives, documents, and maintains purchased materials and rental equipment.


    Skills and Qualifications

    Strong leadership and management skills.Collaborate with others to accomplish goals, identify and resolve problems, and delegate tasks effectively.Good verbal and written communication skills; able to provide detailed instructions and capable of performing specific written and verbal instructions independently.Research and retrieve information from technical sources.Proficient in using office equipment and technology, ie laptops, scanners, printers, apps, camera phones, etc


    Physical Requirements

    This position requires the performance of moderate to heavy physical work which may be required to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 20 pounds constantly, performing activities such as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to five hours without sitting. The position may also involve some repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and elbows.


    Working Conditions

    This position is typically performed on an active job site work environment, which does subject you to the elements. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, and hearing protection may be required under certain conditions. This position may require a flexible schedule, periodic overtime, travel, and seven-day work weeks as needed. BHRS/Hurd completes projects throughout Florida and southeast United States..


    Experience and Other Requirements

    High School Diploma or equivalent required.Bachelors degree (Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field) or 2 - 4 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum 5 years of applicable commercial construction experience is required.Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a construction environment.Have proven experience working in a computerized construction management system(ie. Procore, Sage).Current First Aid, CPR and OSHA 30 certification (if not currently held must obtain within first 60 days).
    Commitment to continued professional growth and development.Valid drivers license with acceptable driving record required.Travel may be required and sometimes overnight.

    Travel

    70% of time involves performing internal planning, coordination, and administrative functions.30% of time involves travel throughout Florida overseeing assigned projects.Must also be willing to travel overnight from time to time.


    Role Summary

    Reporting to the Hurd Construction Operations Director, the Project Manager is responsible for all facets of project management including the budgeting, scheduling, tracking, procurement, document control, safety, quality, and the managing of multiple General Contracting or Construction Management projects. Duties include the coordinating, and integration of multiple projects, and collaboration of people, suppliers, and stakeholders.


    Primary Responsibilities

    Manage all construction activities, coordinate work and schedules with division leaders and the project team.Collaborate with site Superintendents to evaluate and determine appropriate construction means and methods, and strategies, employing the most cost-effective plan and schedule.Promote and maintain client relationships.Review drawings and specifications, monitor progress, and ensure contractual compliance with plans and schedules.Assist with the preparation of job estimates by interpreting bid documents.Develop and write subcontracts and purchase order requisitions as required.Establish, track, and manage project schedule to ensure critical path requirements are achieved by collaborating with site Superintendent.Manage submittal and RFI process, ensuring that all information is reviewed and routed for necessary approval.Ensure project financial success by establishing and managing project budgets; prepare and report on job cost, actively working to ensure project earnings are met.Collaborate with project team to enact plans to improve production, efficiencies and reduce expenses.Work closely with Construction Operations Manager and/or VP regarding resources required to meet project schedule.Assist with safety compliance. Monitor compliance with company/project safety requirements and ensure corrective measures are implemented.Ensure all project documentation is submitted in a timely manner.Make regular site visits for coordination with the project's site Superintendent.Be the primary point of contact for site Superintendent for assigned projects.Direct communication with project Owners, Construction Managers, and project teams.Attend onsite coordination meetings and project specific meetings.
    Assist customers and/or sales opportunities in development and audit of proposal components such as specifications, scopes of work, and clarifications.


    Skills and Qualifications
