  BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as a Technical Specialist 1/2/Sr at our Sabinsville office in Westfield, PA.

  
  

  Responsibilities

  
  

  Performs difficult and complex work requiring strong technical skills and significant knowledge and experience within the functional area or specific engineering discipline.Provides expert technical support, direction, and advice in analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, and programs. Implements technology within an engineering field. Focuses on the practical application of engineering theories. perform product improvement, testing, field engineering, development, manufacturing construction systems development, quality control, and operational engineering.provide technical project management, including scoping, scheduling, budget development, cost tracking, and oversight of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives.Design, develop and program software for real time programmable logic controllers (PLC) and distributed process control systems (DCS) Design and develop graphical user screens utilized within human machine interfaces (HMI's)Design and configure control communication networks Evaluate, Design and configure Cyber Security protections Configure desktop operator workstationsDesign process control flow diagramsDesign piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's)Procure control instrumentation and digital process control equipmentDevelop specifications for instrumentation, electrical power requirements, hazardous location electronic control equipmentDevelop material requisitions; review bids for equipment and service contractsDesign digital electronic control panel drawings for placement in hazardous locationCoordinate control system start-up and commissioningSupport, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic and pneumatic control systems

  
  

  Qualifications

  
  

  Technical Specialist I:

  
  

  0-2 years of relevant experience and competencies in applicable discipline.

  
  

  Technical Specialist II:

  
  

  3+ years of relevant experience and competencies in applicable discipline.

  
  

  Sr. Technical Specialist:

  
  

  5+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline.

  
  

  All Levels:

  
  

  In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, theories, and practices.

  Ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills, and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.

  Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline.

  Strong oral, written, and graphical communication skills, including technical writing.

  Ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature.

  Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments.

  Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes.

  Ability to function effectively independently and as a member on a technical team.

  Excellent organization and project management skills.

  Excellent personal computer skills, including knowledge of applicable software programs.

  
  

  Education

  
  

  Bachelor (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

  
  

  Preferred Degree

  
  

  Biology, Chemistry, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, or Physics.
