Prepares and delivers food trays to residents by performing the following duties.

Maintains a professional appearance, manner, and approach while on duty.Works in a manner that promotes a safe and sanitary environment for staff, residents and visitors.makes efforts to reduce safety hazards, accidents, and injuries.Folds dining room linens and prepares tables.Remains informed about work hours and schedules, arrives on time and works to end of shift so that other staff members are able to work efficiently and effectively.Garnishes and decorates dishes prior to serving.Serves water and other beverages. Ensures that beverages are refreshed throughout the meal service.Delivers and picks up room service trays as directed.Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed.Remains attentive and courteous while providing services. Smiles and demonstrates respectful eye contact.Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services.Assists in keeping dining tables and chairs, floors, linens and serving stations clean, bussed and stocked.Notifies supervisor of any customer complaints so that the complaints can be handled immediately.Provides food services for special events as directed by supervisor.Reports any suspicion or evidence of elder abuse, mistreatment or neglect as outlined in Personnel Policies.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability

Responsibilities include participating in food production while following an established menu, standardized recipes, safety/sanitation procedures, and food distribution time schedules. The role requires substantive interaction with residents, families, managers and staff from other departments.

· Prepare meals in accordance with established diets and menus.
· Dish up main foods for residents and for staff.
· Be responsive to residents’ needs and desires as indicated by their eating habits, dietary requirements, and verbal comments.
· Attend and participate in in-service education opportunities.
· Inspect equipment for cleanliness and functional operation.
· Responsible for the preparation of food for breakfast and noon meals to be served at stated times.
· Attend menu conferences and plan food quantities to meet serving needs of the residents.
· Clean and wash small equipment.
· Keep work area clean.
· Supervise dietary aides to meet the overall objectives of the dietary service.
· Set up steam table for breakfast/lunch/dinner.
· Serve breakfast/ lunch/dinner.
· Report to supervisor any problems with staff, food needs or any other irregularities.
· Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
· All other duties assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises Dietary Aides and Servers in the Dietary Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
