    The Pressure Systems Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) will support the space program located in Moffett Field, CA on a part-time basis.


    The Pressure Systems Safety function implements NASA policy and requirements for assuring the safety and structural integrity of ground-based pressure systems at ARC and, when required, its tenants. This is accomplished by detailed review of all aspects of design and installation and certifying their compliance with the OSHA regulations of 29 CFR 1910, Agency policy delineated in NPR 8715.1, Policy for Pressure Vessels and Pressurized Systems, and the detailed requirements of NASA- STD-8719.17, NASA Requirements for Ground-Based Pressure Vessels and Pressurized Systems (PVS).


    RESPONSIBILITIES:


    Apply experienced pressure system safety subject matter expertise for the following:

    Review proposed pressure system designs and statements of work to confirm compliance to applicable codes and standards and identify work required for compliance.Identify pressure systems hazards and mitigations.Provide knowledge of historical impact on current pressure system modifications.Monthly performance report (format will be provided).Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED:

    This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of mechanical engineering or a similar field.Must have a minimum of 20+ years of recent and related work experience.This position requires a high-level understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply them to the operation of pressure systems.Strong analytical skills: Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions based on that data.Maintain a high level of knowledge in the ASME B&PV and B31.3 Codes, and applicable ANSI, CGA, API, MSS etc.Knowledge of industry standards related to pressure systems safety.Experience supporting aerospace facilities projects of various sizes and complexities.

    WORK LOCATION:

    This position offers a hybrid work schedule; some travel may be required.Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.

    BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

    All Bastion employees must be able to pass a national agency check, and some positions require clearance and will require an extensive background verification/check process.


    DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED:

    All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.


    STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS:

    Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

    SALARY RANGE:

    $100.00 to $150.00, hourly rate will depend on education and experience.
