    PURPOSE

    Performs radiographic exams to assist in a diagnosis of disease and injuries. Works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Performs diagnostic X-ray procedures, which include positioning patient, adjusting equipment settings to obtain the best density, detail and contrast of the area being imaged and determining proper voltage and exposure. QC images once taken. Provides appropriate patient protection following prescribed safety standards. Assists operative team in preparing patient for procedure to be performed. Participates in surgical time out, entering patient information into C-Arm. Maintains facility exposure badges and reporting. Notifies supervisor of equipment repair needs. Maintains compliance with Texas Medical Board and ARRT educational requirements. Ensures all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Maintains integrity of lead aprons by performing annual checks. Acts as Radiation Safety Officer. Maintains work area. Stocks room supplies. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible, and courteous environment. Attends required meetings and in-services. Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct. Regular and dependable attendance. Follows the core competencies set forth by the Company, which are available for review on ARC SharePoint. Works holiday shift(s) as required by Company policy. Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience

    Required:

    High school diploma or GED. Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training in an AMA-approved school. Two (2) or more years of radiology experience with at least one (1) or more years of operating room or ASC radiology experience. Experience working with all age groups. Familiarity with PACS image retrieval and storage. Experience in digital radiography.

    Preferred: Five (5) or more years of related work experience. 

    Certificate/License

    Current licensure as a Registered Technologist through the Texas Medical Board. Radiological Technologist must be in good standing with American Registry of Radiological Technologist. Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Must possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform all diagnostic radiology procedures. Must be customer oriented in order to provide outstanding services to patients, physicians and co-workers. Ability to maintain awareness of patient privacy, confidentiality and dignity at all times. Ability to work in a team environment and/or on their own. Ability to engage others, listen and adapt response to meet others’ needs. Ability to align own actions with those of other team members committed to common goals. Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows and EMRs.. Must be adept at using various applications including MS Office, communicate by e-mail, etc. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to perform job duties in a professional manner at all times. Ability to understand, recall, and communicate, factual information. Ability to understand, recall, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information. Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. Ability to apply common sense in performing job.

    PURPOSE  

    Performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures at a technical level requiring constant attention to technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative. Recognizes the purpose of this service is to provide high quality magnetic resonance imaging and to prioritize the patient as number one. Works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization. 

    Performs computed tomography (CT) procedures utilizing imaging equipment while providing quality care to patients of all ages. Requires self motivation to increase the level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as they evolve. Delivers excellent patient care and adheres to radiation standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. Works effectively with patients and patients’ families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.

MRI: Performs high quality MRI procedures, according to exam protocol, in a timely manner. Maintains production and quality of imaging procedures by following established standards and procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative. Provides high quality magnetic resonance imaging and prioritizes the patient as number one. Demonstrates a knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of electromagnetic and computer sciences, magnetic protection and specialized techniques. Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified position and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documentation such as chart, patient history, pregnancy status and shielding precautions taken, consent forms, policies and procedures, etc. Adjusts equipment as needed to produce high quality images. Performs Quality Control of images once taken and evaluates images to make sure they meet the ordering provider’s requirements. Maintains medical imaging records in appropriate system and according to department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner. Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, protocols and techniques. Completes quality scans in a timely manner, effectively organizes and prioritizes workflow to meet urgent demands. Keeps inventory of MRI supplies, stocks room supplies and makes orders for supply restocks as required. CT: Responsible for variety of routine diagnostic CT procedures in accordance with physicians’ orders. Prepares patients for CT exam, explains procedure and ensures technical quality. Provides high quality CT imaging and prioritizes the patient as number one. Obtains, verifies and maintains all relevant documentation such as chart, patient history, pregnancy status, consent forms, policies and procedures, etc. Protects patients and employees by adhering to safety requirements, infection-control, drug and radiation policies, protocols and techniques. Cleans and maintains CT scan equipment. Keeps inventory of CT scan supplies, stocks room supplies and makes orders for supply restocks as required. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for continuing education.

    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

    Maintains work area. Attends required meetings and in-services. Performs other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS  

    Education and Experience  

    Required:

    High school diploma or GED. Associate Degree in Radiologic Sciences or Graduate of an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology. Completion of courses and training in Magnetic Resonance Technology or Specific Training in Computerized Tomography-GE VCT. One or more years’ experience performing MRI or CT procedures. Skilled in starting IV’s and injection of contrast.

    Preferred: Three (3) or more years of related work experience .  

    Certificate/License  

    Registered with and must be in good standing with American Registry of Radiological Technologist. Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as a Medical Radiologic Technologist - General License. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with advanced certification in CT, or Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT) with advanced certification in MRI. Current AHA approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course completion card or within 60 days of hire required.
