REMEDIAL CONSTRUCTION HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
Requires minimum of 3 years of earth moving equipment operation experience. OSHA HAZWOPER (40 hour) certification a plus.
This position is in a construction environment, working around heavy equipment. It requires travel to multiple state client locations, working outdoors in all types of weather, lifting 50-100 lbs.
Responsible for performing various aspects of field work related to:
Remedial Construction – soil excavation/removal; remediation systems installation; demolition; and clean construction. Includes site grading; site capping; underground storage tank (UST) removals and chemical mixing operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Safely operate excavators, dozers, front end loaders, backhoes, skid steers, etc.Load trucks and other job preparation activities; assist others as needed.Mobilize to and from project job sites.Verify public and private utility locates have been completed and are appropriately marked before performing any work. Maintain equipment and vehicles in the proper manner; maintain in a clean and good working order after each use.Inspect and perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment and vehicles; report broken or damaged equipment to Manager.Working on equipment when broken down in the field, shoveling soil cuttings, moving filled drums, saw cutting and working with concrete, and heavy lifting. Perform daily record keeping and reporting of time/hours billed and expenses.Work safely and within EFS standards on safety practices; maintain safety as a top jobsite priority; report all incidents and/or near misses.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as provided by the company; some activities performed in Level C PPE with respirator.Maintain a professional and clean appearance.Provide great customer service (be personable, respectful, and helpful to clients).Travel Requirement

Must have a willingness to learn to operate heavy construction equipment to include: skid steer loaders, bull dozers, excavators, front end loaders, backhoes etc.Some positions learn to operate a variety of equipment: air monitoring equipment for health and safety, laser, concrete saw, jackhammer, drum vacuum, pressure washer, generator, trash pump, fusion welder, cutting torches, welding equipment, air knife, compressor, forklift, skid steer and attachments, and mini-excavator.Assist in loading trucks and other job preparation activities.Mobilize to and from project job sites.Setup job, complete load lists, and perform on-site work.Verify public and private utility locates have been completed and are appropriately marked before performing any work. The Wastewater Treatment Operator position is an entry-level role within the Water Resources Group of Technical Services. This role requires adaptability to operational changes, troubleshooting process controls, and strong written communication skills. As the Operator I will provide field support, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate data and reports. Additionally, this position will serve as the Certified Operator in Responsible Charge, overseeing facility operations and collaborating with clients and state officials.

This position will primarily be dedicated to daily operation of the Burns Harbor Wastewater treatment system for about 8 months of the year, with travel to other sites in Northern Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio during the remaining months.
10% office (controlled environment), 90% field/site visit travel (environmental job hazards)
This classification requires travel to various client locations. Travel typically involves day trips within the state or neighboring states, resulting in longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long distance drives and air travel may be required. Shift work and holiday work may be required on an as-needed and sometimes ongoing basis.
