    FIELD TECHNICIAN

    REMEDIAL CONSTRUCTION


    Looking for an experienced candidate with construction labor experience. Construction labor experience and/or OSHA Hazwoper (40-hour) certification a plus. This position is in a construction environment, working around heavy equipment. It requires travel to multiple state client locations, working outdoors in all types of weather, and lifting 50-100 lbs.


    Responsible for performing various aspects of field work related to soil excavation/removal, remediation systems installation, demolition, and clean construction. Includes site grading; site capping; underground storage tank (UST) removals, emergency response; and chemical mixing operations.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Assist Heavy Equipment Operators with field execution of projects.Working on equipment when broken down in the field, shoveling soil cuttings, moving filled drums, saw cutting and working with concrete, and heavy lifting. Must have a willingness to learn to operate heavy construction equipment to include: skid steer loaders, bull dozers, excavators, front end loaders, backhoes etc.Some positions learn to operate a variety of equipment: air monitoring equipment for health and safety, laser, concrete saw, jackhammer, drum vacuum, pressure washer, generator, trash pump, fusion welder, cutting torches, welding equipment, air knife, compressor, forklift, skid steer and attachments, and mini-excavator.Assist in loading trucks and other job preparation activities.Mobilize to and from project job sites.Setup job, complete load lists, and perform on-site work.Verify public and private utility locates have been completed and are appropriately marked before performing any work. Perform daily record keeping and reporting of time/hours billed and expenses.Work safely and within EFS standards on safety practices; maintain safety as a top jobsite priority; report all incidents and/or near misses.Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as provided by the company; some activities are performed in Level C PPE with a respirator.Maintain a professional and clean appearance.Provide great customer service (be personable, respectful, and helpful to clients).

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Senior Environmental Engineering Manager is an internally focused leadership role responsible for providing strategic and technical oversight for the Engineering Group within the Technical Services Department. This position develops permanent solutions to complex environmental engineering challenges and supports a multidisciplinary team delivering work across the organization’s environmental projects.


    The Senior Environmental Engineering Manager does not serve as a primary client-facing role but, instead, leads engineers in the internal development and review of remediation and pollution control strategies, supports permitting and redevelopment effort, and provides final technical and QA/QC review of Engineering Group deliverables. The role is accountable for Engineering Group performance, including metrics, budgeting, staffing, and personnel management, and works closely with internal department leaders to deliver consistent, high quality technical solutions.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Develop innovative environmental engineering solutions to complex issues associated with client projects.Lead and oversee the Engineering Group, including personnel management, financial performance, and resource allocation.Direct Engineering Group activities by assigning tasks, leading design teams, supervising performance, and providing final QA/QC review.Identify, coach, and mentor Engineering staff to successfully complete projects and advance professionally.Design and develop remediation strategies tailored to site specific conditions and contaminant types.Interpret existing regulations and guidance and coordinate with consultants to develop strategies related to engineered systems.Prepare and submit permit applications to regulatory agencies, including required documentation, data, and technical reports.Prepare proposals for August Mack service areas and external clients.Collaborate with other groups and departments to accomplish project and organizational objectives.

    INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE MANAGER

    JOB SUMMARY

    Responsible for managing Building Science and Industrial Hygiene projects and fieldwork, including hazard assessments, exposure monitoring, and environmental health consulting. Provides leadership in regulatory compliance, client communication, and innovative solutions for workplace and building environments.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    Conduct asbestos-related work activities: inspection and bulk sample collection, abatement oversight, air monitoring, and air clearance samplingConduct lead-based paint-related work activities: inspections/risk assessments and sampling, abatement oversight, dust wipe/air clearance sampling, and report writingConduct IAQ and mold-related work activities: initial inspection and investigations, environmental sampling, remediation oversight, and pre/post-remediation air clearance samplingConduct industrial hygiene investigations and monitoring events to evaluate potential exposure to contaminants or hazards: sample calibration, setup of air monitoring equipment, observation and documentation of employee work practices and proceduresPerform chemical exposure assessments, noise monitoring, and ergonomic evaluationsDevelop exposure control strategies and implement OSHA compliance audits, hazard communication programs, and respiratory protection program developmentTrain/mentor field personnel in all field tasks to complete project scopes of workManage project budgeting and estimating, scheduling, project administration and setup, field activities, data interpretation, client interaction, and project momentumIdentify changes to the scope of work, communicate to Senior Manager and client, and execute change orders if necessaryPerform regulatory and technical research as needed to support a projectEvaluate, select, schedule, and manage subcontractorsCommunicate with clients on projects, from beginning to endPrepare a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) or Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), review and enforce plans, and site safety with all persons at the work siteDocument all field activities being performedPrepare and write final project reports for senior reviewPrepare job descriptions of completed projects and update August Mack resumeResearch and report as a subject matter expert (SME) supporting litigation matters

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    Knowledge of asbestos, mold, radon, lead, indoor air quality, and industrial hygieneKnowledge of NIOSH, ACGIH, and EPA guidelines; proficiency with real-time monitoring equipment; ability to analyze exposure trends using digital toolsRecognize hazards inherent to the environmental work and safety measuresLearn job-related material primarily through verbal instruction, training, reading, researching, and observation in an on-the-job settingDocument and organize while working on multiple projects

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS

    Education: A.S. or B.S. in geology, engineering, chemistry, environmental science, or related field OR GED with significant relevant experience in the industry

    Recommended Experience: 5+ years experience in Building Sciences and Industrial Hygiene related consulting

    Certifications: Asbestos Building Inspector; Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor; Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, & Restoration Certification (IICRC) Mold Remediation or Water Restoration Certifications; OSHA 40 hours Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certification (40 hours) or General Industry 10 or 30 Hour Certifications are a plus; Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred

    Skills: Strong computer and verbal/written communication skills are a must

    Additional requirements: Must be physically capable of operating vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and receive a medical clearance from a baseline physical

    This classification requires travel to various client locations. Travel typically involves day trips within the state or neighboring states, resulting in longer workdays; and may include extended and/or further travel, resulting in multiple days and overnights. Long distance drives and air travel may be required.

    *Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
