What You will Do
The Staff Accountant will assist the Director of Finance with the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department. The position is responsible for performing monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analyses. The position will also assist with the managing of financial reporting, internal control structure design and compliance, budget preparation and reporting, cash flow, short-term investments, and auditor relations (external, IRS, sales tax).

Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to program delivery, supervising children ages 4-17, assisting program coordinators/supervisors in the supervision of youth and adult volunteers, and assessing/coordinating supplies and physical space needed for programs. Opportunities for On-Call Educators include but are not limited to holiday camps, after hour events, overnights, and other family programs, with most shift opportunities during holiday weeks and/or select Friday and Saturday evenings.

What You’ll Do
The primary goal of the Associate Veterinarian - FMASSC is to assist in managing all aspects of animal medical care for Audubon’s animal collections at the Freeport McMoRan Audubon Species Survival Center (FMASCC). The Associate Veterinarian works cooperatively with other Audubon veterinarians to assist as needed in animal health care for Audubon Zoo, Audubon Aquarium and Insectarium, Audubon Aquatic Center, Audubon Aquarium Rescue, and Audubon Nature Center. This role endeavors to provide comprehensive health care for the animal collections of the Audubon Nature Institute in accordance with standards set forth by Audubon and noted in the Guidelines for Zoo Veterinary Medical Programs and Veterinary Hospitals of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians.
Day to Day Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive health management for the animal collections of the Audubon Nature Institute in accordance with standards set forth by Audubon, USDA, NOAA NMFS, USFWS, and the Guidelines for Zoo Veterinary Medical Programs and Veterinary Hospitals of the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians (AAZV).
o Veterinary care includes but is not limited to: efficient and timely diagnosis and treatment (including consultation with colleagues and other professionals for advanced diagnostics and/or procedures as appropriate), surgery, preventative medicine, quarantine, periodic exams, general disease observation and containment, necropsy, periodic review of diet and husbandry practices to ensure proper nutrition and animal welfare, proactive stress reduction, quality of life and welfare monitoring, and wild terrestrial or marine animal emergency response, triage, and rehabilitation.
• Efficiently respond to animal emergencies as needed.
• Establish and maintain effective, efficient, professional, collegial, and collaborative relationships with Audubon veterinarians, Hospital staff (Hospital Manager, Veterinary Technicians, Hospital Keepers, Volunteers, Residents, Interns, and Students), Animal/Husbandry Staff Curators and Keepers, senior administration, and ancillary staff, vendors, and medical consultants.
• Coordinate and schedule medical procedures with the Hospital Manager, Veterinarians, Veterinary Technicians, and Animal/Husbandry staff.
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely animal medical records in ZIMS, including detailed procedural and observational notes, assessments, and plans and a timely review and assessment of diagnostic results in a generalized SOAP format. Maintain accurate controlled drug log entries, follow controlled drug protocols and applicable laws, and assist in monitoring controlled drug inventories and proper storage/disposal.
• Assist in updating Hospital protocols regarding standard operating procedures, record keeping, Quarantine, and biosecurity. Adequately train and monitor Veterinary Technicians, Hospital Keepers, and Animal/Husbandry staff on established protocols.
• Consider cost when ordering diagnostic testing, equipment, drugs, and supplies and pursue equivalent alternatives where medically appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of all purchases and monitor expenditures for monthly reconciliation. Complete all financial reconciliation duties efficiently, accurately, and on time.
• Maintain all animal health care areas to or above industry standards, ensuring safety and federal/state regulatory compliance, organization, equipment care and maintenance, human and animal safety, biosecurity, and hygiene.
• Serve as Audubon spokesperson as needed; be comfortable with public speaking and address all forms of media.

What We’re Looking For
Must Haves:
• Graduate of an established program in veterinary medicine.
• Must obtain and maintain a license to practice veterinary medicine in Louisiana.
• Two (2) years of clinical experience and competency in treating non-domestic animals, including megafauna, in a zoological setting. Strong background in the Zoo field including experience in quarantine/biosecurity procedures and the safe capture and restraint of zoo animals.
• Maintain current Tetanus, hepatitis A/B, influenza, Rabies, and Covid-19 vaccines and a current TB test (3y).
• Must maintain a valid Louisiana driver’s license.
• Accept euthanasia as an approved method of animal management.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekends. and holidays.
• Participate in the supervision, training, and evaluation of resident, intern, preceptors, and professional colleagues.
• Proficiency with veterinary medical equipment including but not limited to radiology, ultrasound, anesthesia, patient monitoring machines, laparoscopy, endoscopy, ophthalmoscopes, tonometers, centrifuges, blood chemistry analyzers, and cytology microscopes.

What You’ll Do
In the role of Zoo Nutritionist, the primary goal is to manage and ensure the efficient and continual operation of the Zoo Commissary, including the acquisition, inventory, proper storage, preparation, and delivery of high-quality, species-appropriate diets and feed items for the Zoo animals without interruption. Periodic and regular diet evaluation for species-appropriate nutrients, composition, welfare considerations, consumption, and alignment with advisory group recommendations is an expectation.
Day to Day Responsibilities
• Manage and maintain a hygienic Commissary facility appropriate for food preparation and in compliance with regulations and accreditation guidelines from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and USDA, including pest control.
• Recruit, interview, supervise, and manage Commissary employees and volunteers and establish work schedules to ensure the completion of daily duties that include diet preparations and deliveries, monitoring and maintaining an adequate inventory, and maintaining a clean and functional facility
• Train personnel in the efficient and safe performance of their daily duties, including standard food safety practices. Perform Commissary Staff responsibilities, including diet preparation, to ensure all Commissary work is completed each day
• Acquire and properly store all feed inventories and miscellaneous supplies necessary for operating the Commissary effectively, including regular orders from local grocery and feed stores as needed. Store, label, date, and rotate all feeds appropriately to maintain quality and comply with governing regulations
• Maintain accurate records of all purchasing, monitor expenditures, and complete purchasing requisitions and reconciliations in a timely manner. Participate in the bidding process on specified food items as required by Purchasing
• Keep accurate information on all feed suppliers, including their sustainable acquisition practices and philosophy (AZA requirement)
• Receive Animal Section orders and deliver appropriate quantities of high-quality feeds to animal sections as needed

General Summary: The Premium Experience Coordinator is responsible for the logistics and coordination of all revenue generating Premium Experiences involving Husbandry and the Aquarium and the Insectarium animal collection. They will foster effective communication with Marketing, Operations, Administration, and Guest Services staff related to Premium Experiences. The coordinator will conduct sub- department, and facility meetings to support the efficient, safe, animal welfare-minded, and financially secure execution of Premium Experiences. Drives the exploration of premium experience integration into husbandry routines and is proactive in collaboration with husbandry staff to ensure safe husbandry and welfare best practices and procedures during premium experiences. The position will represent the Husbandry department in the development of Audubon Nature Institute wide initiatives related to guest enhancements and premium experiences.
To deliver on the Audubon mission, the Premium Experience Program Coordinator will:

What You’ll Do
Life Support System (LSS) Technician is an entry or intermediate level position with a
heavy focus on the mechanical and chemical components of aquatic animal care in all areas of the aquarium. Reporting to the Curator of Life Support and Water Quality, the LSS Technician will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of the aquarium LSS and water quality (WQ). LSS Technician must be able to communicate effectively with members of the other Husbandry Department divisions, the veterinary staff, all other Audubon Nature Institute (ANI) departments, and the general public.
Day to Day Responsibilities
• Perform routine (daily, weekly, monthly) LSS and WQ analytical work with minimal supervision.
• Perform any LSS related repairs and preventative maintenance.
• Function as a resource for Husbandry staff in daily operations and requirements of life support and WQ.

What You’ll Do
Under the supervision of the Horticulture Manager, the Horticulturist is responsible for the overall landscape maintenance of an assigned garden zone. Physically perform general landscape maintenance of assigned garden zones, including but not limited to planting, mowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing, spraying, and minor irrigation repairs. Oversee assigned gardeners, volunteers, interns, etc. Assist with garden zone record keeping. Responsible for properly using, maintaining, and securing maintenance equipment including blowers, lawnmowers, gators, and other machinery. Assist Learning and Engagement Department with educational activities. Ability to maintain a Louisiana Landscape Horticulturist License within 2 years. Responsible for assigned research projects as assigned by the Director.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
· Provide guest experience of outstanding quality.
· Physically perform general landscape maintenance, including planting, mowing, leaf-blowing, weeding, watering, fertilizing, spraying, doing minor irrigation repairs, pruning, and pest control according to written maintenance and safety standards.
· Maintain garden projects on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis with a critical eye on detail.
· Contribute to scheduled manicuring of all turf areas.
· Contribute to educational and research projects as need to aid in community knowledge of plant materials and landscape maintenance practices.
· Apply pesticides and herbicides using appropriate safety procedures as provided and according to OSHA standards.
· Assist in group activities and special projects as needed.
· Work effectively and maintain good working relationships with other department staff.
· Weave quality entertainment through the guest experience.
· The Downtown Horticulturist will contribute to group effort to provide beautiful gardens of varying colors and texture that enhance the guest’s visit that will serve to provide a memorable guest experience.

What We’re Looking For:
Must Haves:
· Minimum 5+ years in Horticulture, ground, or related field.
· Ability to identify common pests and weeds.
· Ability to maintain a Louisiana Horticultural License within 2 years.
· Must have the ability to use handheld gardening tools, such as shovels, rakes, and brooms.
· Must be able to operate and maintain fuel in gas powered hedgers, weed eaters, power blowers, riding and push mowers, and extension chain saws.
· Must have a valid La. driver’s license and be capable of driving golf carts, gas powered utility vehicles, and pickup trucks as well as the ability to tow a trailer with weight.
· Ability to read and write required.
· Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time with attention to detail and ability to follow through.
· Follow schedules.
· Work collaboratively and cooperatively.
· Work as a team or independently.
· Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
· You must be a team player and be able to interact well with others within the department, as well as staff from other departments. Good communication is important within the team.
· Contact with guests is expected to be courteous and respectful.
· Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Physical Requirements:
· This position is a physically demanding one. This job requires 100% working out in the elements, so the ability to withstand hot, humid summers and cold, wet winters is a must.
· This job requires the ability to pick up items weighing up to 40 lbs.
· Must be able to operate power equipment in varying degrees of temperatures for long periods of time.
· Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.
· Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.
· Use of chemicals is limited, but a part of the job. Chemical application will be taught.
· Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
· May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
· Constant contact with co-workers required.
· This position requires exposure to the elements and to dirty conditions.
· Understanding of safe practices is essential in order to minimize unsafe working conditions. Use of safety gear required.
