    Atom Computing is seeking a Principal ASIC Designer to lead the development of critical technologies that power our quantum computers. In this role, you will own end-to-end design strategy—from requirements definition through silicon bring-up—while driving critical trade-off decisions across performance, power, area, and system integration constraints. You will partner closely with customers and cross-functional teams to translate evolving requirements into scalable, production-ready designs, ensuring alignment between technical execution and business objectives. As a senior technical leader, you will provide strategic guidance to executive stakeholders, shaping the long-term silicon roadmap and influencing key investment decisions. This position requires deep expertise in ASIC development and strong systems thinking. Reporting to the Hardware Engineering Manager, you’ll collaborate closely with a talented group of engineers and physicists to shape the future of computing. 

    This position may be based in Boulder, CO, or Austin, TX. 

    ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the design and development of FPGA designs to learn the hardware architectures and designs that we intend to scale for performance and densityLead the research and assessment into how to best leverage ASICs to enable higher performance and higher density future generationsEstablish ASIC design processes internal to Atom Computing by defining methodologies across architecture, RTL, verification, and tapeout.Perform hands-on ASIC design including microarchitecture, RTL development, testing, and integration.Manage schedules and vendor interfaces by coordinating milestones, aligning with ASIC partners, and ensuring successful fabrication.Work closely with Atom Computing’s quantum physicists, optical engineers, hardware and software engineers to understand use cases and deliver hardware that addresses the needs. Manage the product roadmap and subsystem delivery schedules for both commercial and research projects. Experience & EducationMS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.10+ years of post-degree experience in hardware engineering, specifically in ASIC/SoC environments.QualificationsHave gone through 2 or more complete ASIC design cycles.Experience porting designs from FPGA prototypes to ASICsProficiency with RTL (SystemVerilog preferred)Experience in implementing large digital signal processing blocks in RTLWorking knowledge of performance and limitations of ASIC fabs, partners, and design nodes as well as FPGA capabilities to guide selection of best fit for our applicationsKnowledge of Cadence, Synopsys, or Siemens EDA design toolsExpertise in FPGA, microprocessor, and related digital circuit design and functionsMixed signal design experience is a plus.Atom Computing provides a wide variety of perks and benefits, including fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for our employees and their dependents. Additionally, unlimited paid time off, 401K company matching, short- and long-term disability, FSA, dependent care benefits, and life insurance.  We also offer drinks, snacks, and catered team lunches in our offices, every day! The base salary range for this position is between $180,000 - $220,000, commensurate with experience.     Atom Computing is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to join our Control Systems team. In this role, you will own the development and execution of test strategies for custom RF and mixed-signal electronic systems that support the operation of our quantum computers. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from prototype bring-up and characterization through production test development and manufacturing support.

    This is a hands-on role that combines hardware debugging, automated test development, fixture design, and close collaboration with hardware, FPGA, firmware, and software engineers. The position is based on-site in our Boulder, Colorado office and reports to the Control Systems Hardware Manager.

    ResponsibilitiesOwn production testing for a variety of custom RF and mixed-signal instruments.  This includes test plan/procedure creation, fixture definition and design, software design and instrument automationDesign test fixtures and equipment as required to perform acceptance tests on a variety of hardware equipment. Actively participate in instrument design reviews and advocate for and assist in ensuring a high level of design for manufacturability (DfM) and test (DfT)Actively participate in the bring-up, verification, testing, and debug of control system hardware systems, collaborating closely with FPGA, firmware, and software engineers.Develop characterization, verification / validation, and automated test procedures and programs for various electronics components.Work with assembly / test houses to ensure good coverage of board functionality and ease the process of board bring-up and verificationDesign tests to automatically log key instrument metrics to be used for board specifications and track and learn from these to improve the quality and yield of our instrumentsExperience & EducationBS or MS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering,7+ years of experience in RF hardware testing, validation, or integration.QualificationsRequired:Demonstrated proficiency with electronic test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum and logic analyzers, signal generators). Working knowledge of automated testing best practices and a keen attention to detail.Capable in scripting languages (e.g., Python) for basic data acquisition, instrument control, and automating hardware test and characterization.Strong debugging and analytical problem-solving skills. Ability to read schematics, interpret datasheets, and analyze test data.Capable of lifting and moving objects that weigh up to 25 poundsDesired:Experience working in a Linux environment.Familiarity with RF design concepts and/or software defined radio.Familiarity with the MicroTCA, PXIe, or similar pluggable instrument standards

    Atom Computing is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team to assist in the design, verification, and testing of custom electronic assemblies for the control system of our quantum computer. This position is located in Boulder, Colorado, and will report to the Control Systems Manager.
