    Job Responsibilities

    Safety-conscious and work within standard operating guidelines, and help maintain a safe, organized work areaDemonstrate a general knowledge in heat treating industry standards and achieve higher-level certificationGather materials, correctly plan production furnace loads, and follow traveler work instructionsCount, measure, rack, clean, and prepare parts before processingVerify material counts, measurements, and descriptionsOperate overhead cranes (after in-house certification)Operate forklift (valid driver’s license required and in-house certification)Assemble and properly orient materials on heat treat fixtures and furnaces platformsHandle tools (drills, saws, wire cutters, etc.)

    Level 1 Operator to begin on the job training toward achieving Level 2 certification.Level 2 Heat Treat Operator testing and certification after demonstrating the understanding and ability to care for and operate the assigned furnaces.Level 3 Heat Treat Operator experience and proficiency in all Astro Age and Solution heat treat furnaces, with abilities to lead and supervise a team of subordinate employees.Shift supervisors demonstrate leadership and the ability to manage shop production, assignments, and operate all furnaces.

    Heat Treat Operator – Level 1 (South Gate, CA)

    Starting wages are $20.00/hr. to $23.00/hr. (day shift), (Swing shift + shift differential), (Grave Shift + shift differential)

    Heat Treat Operator – Level 2 (South Gate, CA)

    Starting wages are $22.00/hr. to $25.00/hr. (day shift), (Swing shift + shift differential), (Grave Shift + shift differential)

    Astro Aluminum is seeking an experienced, hands-on, self-motivated Heat Treat Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our aluminum heat-treating facility. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership to production personnel while ensuring safe operations, exceptional quality, on-time delivery, and compliance with customer and industry requirements. This position reports directly to senior manufacturing executive and plays a key role in driving continuous improvement throughout the department.

    Schedule & Compensation

    Day Shift 6:00 AM - 2:30PM, Swing Shift 1:30PM - 10:00PM, Graveyard Shift 10:00PM - 6:30AMStarting wages are $26:00/hr. to $29.00/hr. (Day Shift), (Swing Shift + $3.00 shift differential), (Graveyard Shift + $4.50 shift differential)


    Minimum Qualifications

    5+ years of aluminum heat treatment experienceMinimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of aluminum alloys, heat solution treating, precipitation hardening, quenching, and aging processesExperience interpreting customer specifications and technical drawingsKnowledge of furnace operation, instrumentation, and process controlsExcellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsComputer proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Production reporting softwareAbility to work weekends, flexible hours, and overtime when production demands require


    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience in aerospace heat treatingPossess knowledge of AMS 2750, Nadcap, AS9100, and ASTM specificationsStrong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with othersForklift certification or willingness to obtain certificationBilingual (English/Spanish) to effectively communicate across all departments and teams


    Key Responsibilities

    Supervise, coach, and develop heat treat operators and support personnelSchedule daily production to meet customer delivery requirementsEnsure compliance with all company safety policies and OSHA regulationsOversee furnace loading, solution heat treating, quenching, aging, stress relieving, and related aluminum heat treat processesVerify compliance with customer specifications, work instructions, and process documentationEnsure adherence to AMS 2750 pyrometry requirements and support Nadcap and AS9100 quality system complianceMonitor furnace performance, temperature uniformity, instrumentation, and process controlsReview production metrics and implement corrective actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivityCoordinate preventive maintenance activities with the Maintenance Department to minimize downtimeConduct employee training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and career developmentLead daily production meetings and communicate department goals and expectationsMaintain accurate production, quality, calibration, and training recordsSupport internal, customer, and third-party auditsDrive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiativesReview, approve, and process employee daily timecards to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policiesMonitor employee attendance, overtime, and scheduling to maintain appropriate staffing levels and control labor costsVerify payroll hours and submit approved time records to the Payroll Department by established deadlinesComplete required incident, injury, near-miss, and equipment damage reports accurately and in a timely mannerPerform and document required daily safety inspections throughout the facility using the company-issued iPad, identifying hazards, unsafe conditions, and required corrective actionsDemonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with both English and Spanish-speaking employees while maintaining clear communication between departments and shifts
