    Job Summary

    This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood draws/specimen collection in alignment with Ascend Clinical procedures and standards. Key responsibilities include preparing and processing specimens, inclusive of centrifuging, labeling, and maintaining organized phlebotomy works areas while ensuring accurate patient identification at all times. The position also supports the shipment and return of specimens to Ascend Clinical for testing, maintenance of laboratory supplies and equipment designated for Ascend Clinical services. Additional duties may be assigned to support overall and operational needs. The schedule for this role will be Monday through Thursday from 8:30 AM-4:00 PM in Athens, TN and Friday from 8:30 AM-4:00 PM in Chattanooga, TN.

    Responsibilities:

    Phlebotomists perform only blood draws and collection services at practice offices in compliance with all applicable Ascend Clinical policies and procedures. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Perform only blood draws and collection services in accordance with Ascend Clinical's policies and proceduresPerform specimen processing and/or preparation activities (centrifuging, specimen splitting, labeling, requisitioning, stocking, and organizing phlebotomy area)Arrange for and assist with shipment, delivery, or return of specimens to Ascend Clinical for testingMaintain laboratory supplies and equipment provided by Ascend Clinical for Ascend Clinical testing onlyEnsuring that patient identification and accurate specimen labeling occurs at all timesAdhering to all HIPAA confidentiality and privacy requirementsFollowing all safety, infection control, and quality assurance policiesPerform additional duties as required by Ascend ClinicalPhlebotomy services must be performed under the supervision of qualified laboratory or clinical personnel as required by state regulations.     Qualifications:

    Required experience:Proficiency with keyboard use and data entry in clinical or administrative systemsAbility to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, which may include weekends, holidays, on-call coverage, or overtimeHigh school diploma or equivalentPreferred Qualifications/Credentials:Minimum of one (1) year of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, venipuncture, and capillary blood collectionCompletion of medical training, such as a medical assistant or paramedic program Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)National phlebotomy certification (ex: ASCP, AMT, NGA NCCT)Note: Certification is required in certain states such as California, Nevada, and WashingtonProhibited Activities:

    When performing blood draws and collection services at practice offices on behalf of Ascend Clinical, Phlebotomist shall not perform any tasks that would typically or normally be the responsibility of practice office's staff. Prohibited activities include, but are not limited to:Perform phlebotomy services on behalf of the practice's patients for laboratory test provided by the practice's in-office laboratory or by any laboratory other than EurofinsPerform or assist practice's office staff in performing laboratory tests provided by the practice's in-office laboratory for the practice's patientsOperate or assist with the operations of the practice's in-office laboratory equipmentPerform administrative or clerical services such as typing, filing, scheduling, receptionist services, billing functions, and completing the practice's documentsPerform nursing services or other clinical or medical functionsFile test results in patient chartsAnswer telephones for practiceComplete requisitions for testing ordered by the practitioners within the practiceEscort practice patients to exam roomsAny other task that would typically or normally be the responsibility of the practice office's staffCompensation:$20-21/hr

    Job Summary:

    As a Medical Laboratory Assistant, you will assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with routine specimen processing in accordance with protocols established by Ascend Clinical. You will process specimens, perform some test preparation, specimen verification and tracking, all related clerical functions and general laboratory tasks. You will also assist in placing specimens on automated instruments and work with the laboratorians for documentation review and computer verification.     Job Summary

    The Chemistry Lab Analyst will perform moderate to high complexity testing on non-clinical specimens. Will operate and maintain highly complex instrumentations such as Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) and Ion Chromatography (IC), as well as demonstrate proficiency on routine environmental testing, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting in accordance with protocols established by Ascend Clinical.
