Responsibilities
Supervises nursing care provided by Registered Nurses (RN), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) and others. Reviews and implements all nursing procedures and systems. Assesses and evaluates the systems which facilitate the delivery of quality guest care and performance of staff. Uses a systematic approach in the nursing process to provide individualized nursing care. Contributes to the guest assessments (MDS/CAA’s) and the development and implementation of a plan of care. Evaluates guests’ responses to nursing interventions. Understands the rational for the use of medications and treatments and correctly administers as neededQualifications

Prepare and administer medications and treatments except controlled medications, oxygen, injections, intravenously, parenteral or through any jejunostomy, gastrostomy, nasogastric or oral gastric tube, no initial dose or PRN medication as ordered by the physician and in accordance with state and federal regulations. Administrator prescription and OTC medications as approved only at the delegation of the registered nurse Verify the identity of the resident before administering the medication/treatment. Review medication records for completeness of information, accuracy in the transcription of the physician's order, and adherence to stop order policies. Follow the rights of medication administration and infection prevention standards Verify physician orders prior to medication administration and clarify discrepancies with the RN Supervisor. Measure, prepare, and administer medications accurately and safely. Observe residents for side effects, adverse reactions, or medication errors, and report concerns immediately to the RN Supervisor. Ensure medications are stored, handled, and disposed of in compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the clinical record, administration of medication or refusals by patient Report all discrepancies noted concerning physician orders, diet change, charting error, etc., to the RN supervisor. Give/receive the nursing report upon reporting in and ending shift duty hours. Notify the RN Supervisor when the resident is involved in an accident/incident or change in condition.
