    Position: Industrial Hygiene Professional

    Apex Companies, LLC seeks candidates for a full-time, experienced Industrial Hygienist to provide personnel and area exposure assessment services to local, regional, and national clients.  Qualified candidates must have the skill, technical experience and training to self-perform or manage industrial hygiene projects ranging from small to large. 

    All candidates must be capable of researching and accurately referencing standards (e.g., OSHA, ACGIH, etc.) and have a working knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.  Additional requirements include developing cost estimates, preparation of proposals and sampling plans, advising and mentoring junior level staff as well as managing/interfacing with clients (building of relationships). Strong interpersonal and writing skills are necessary.  OSHA and previous consulting experience are required. 

    Your Responsibilities as an Industrial Hygiene Professional:

    You will be responsible for evaluating workplace health exposure risks for a wide variety of clients in various industries.  Qualified candidates should have experience performing the following tasks:

    Conduct qualitative exposure assessments, including basic characterization, identification of similar exposure groups, and development of sampling plans. Plan and conduct industrial hygiene sampling surveys for chemical, physical and biological hazards.  Interpret exposure monitoring results and develop appropriate recommendations to control exposures. Author detailed technical reports supported with sampling, analysis, and/or evaluation data; citation of applicable references, and recommendations to remove or manage the exposure risk. Recognize and investigate the potential for health effects associated with chemical agents without authoritative occupational exposure limits. Defines fundamental concepts of inferential and deterministic statistics in order to select appropriate statistical tools (both parametric and non-parametric) to determine exposure outcomes. Applies statistical techniques to analyze exposure trends over time. Defines strategies for ongoing exposure monitoring to assure timely identification of deviations in exposure profiles and to ensure controls continue to be effective. Assesses compliance with state and/or federal health-based standards. Develops and presents industrial hygiene training programs at client sites. Supports the performance of indoor environmental quality investigations.

    What we're looking for:

    BS in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or other related field. CIH is preferredClient facing skills with ability to grow opportunities. MS or MSPH or MPH preferred but not needed. 6+ years of experience providing industrial hygiene consulting services or management of industrial hygiene programs including technical writing, technical oversight, and project management. Certification or eligibility to earn certification in the comprehensive practice of industrial hygiene (CIH) from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. Ability to mentor and train staff. Strong technical writing and communication skills. Strong safety awareness and a good record and understanding of safe work practices. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

    Apex Companies, LLC, a leading national environmental consulting, engineering, and services provider, is seeking an experienced environmental consulting Project Manager to join our Southern California Team. This is a hands-on position with an approximate 75%/25% office/field schedule. Project assignments are across the state but mostly in Southern California. The successful candidate can work out of one of our 4 Southern California offices or from a home office in San Diego, Orange, or Los Angeles Counties.

    The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of relevant experience:

    Helping industry and government agencies comply with permitting and compliance with diverse federal, state, and local environmental and permitting regulations.Preparing concise proposals and detailed budgets responding to client needs.Reviewing and interpreting 40 CFR, California CCR, and local agency permitting.Coordinating with engineering staff to prepare engineering design plans.Monitoring projects to ensure completing work safely, on-time, and on-budget.Experience with diverse environmental regulations including those associated with hazardous waste generation, ASTs, and OSHA/Cal-OSHA.

    The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-orientated and has the people and technical compliance skills needed to support and manage client projects.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

    Assignments will be varied and include but not be limited to AST/UST, SPCC, Industrial and Construction Stormwater Compliance, Hazardous Waste Management, and DW/WW/SW Infrastructure Inspection and Repair.

    Your Responsibilities as an Environmental Compliance Project Manager:

    Reviewing client requests to quickly identify the specific subset of federal, state, and local regulations applicable to their need.Preparing responsible proposals delineating the scope of work, schedule, budget, and significant assumptions.Efficient and accurate extrapolation of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.Coordinating and managing project teams which may include engineering, science, and field staff as well as subcontractors.Compiling all permit-required documents necessary for local and state permitting.Prepare environmental permits and reports for projects, facilities, and operations for clients.High degree of technical competency in permitting, AST/UST, and Hazardous Waste Generator requirements.

    What we're looking for:

    BS in environmental science, or another related field. 8+ years of relevant professional experience in consulting, industry, or government in California.Proficient at independently researching, reviewing, and guiding compliance with environmental regulations at a Federal, State and Local levels; including SPCC, NPDES & discharge permitting. Effective communication skills, and collaborative work ethic.Excellent writing and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.Strong safety awareness, commitment to safe work practices, and valid driver's license with a safe driving history.     Your Responsibilities as an Environmental Building Sciences Field Technician:

    Conduct hazardous materials surveys, including asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, other hazardous materials, and indoor air quality.  Provide oversight of contaminated site remediation and hazardous building materials abatement.  Prepare field notes, photographs, and perform analysis and interpretation of field and analytical data.  Prepare technical reports for hazardous materials for site assessments.  Support emergency response services, communicate and collaborate with others, manage workloads and records, implement health & safety policies, and travel.

    This is a great opportunity for an individual skilled and experienced in performing inspection, maintenance, and repair of wastewater and stormwater lift stations to work both independently and as part of a team and deploy from their home.

    Description

    The Lift Station Maintenance Technician will deploy from their home to inspect, maintain, and repair wastewater and stormwater lift stations located at client properties located throughout 7 western states. The individual will be part of a team and have primary responsibility for lift stations across Northern California and Nevada. This is a road warrior position in which the individual will be in the field or mobilizing to the field 90% of the time.

    Apex provides a service vehicle, fuel and maintenance card, company credit card, all job-related tools and equipment, smart phone, and computer and pays for mobilization time and all relevant job-related training and certification. This is a full-time position with benefits including medical, dental, eye-care, 401K, company-paid death/disability insurance, paid overtime, and more. Due to the nature of the position, flexible hours allowing extra time off following a road trip is encouraged.

    Maintenance events are pre-scheduled, and most maintenance events are completed in teams including multiple technicians and/or subcontractors.

    Your Responsibilities as a Lift Station Maintenance Technician :

    Inspect wastewater and stormwater lift stations, including testing floats and controls, power, wet well condition, safety, indications of failure or overflow, and repair needs. Recommend and execute repairs and improvements, providing insight to scope the required equipment, materials, and manpower needed. Safe work practices are paramount, and the individual will need to adhere to safe work practices, including driving and equipment inspection/maintenance, maintain current training to manage job-specific proficiency for confined-space entry, lockout/tagout, and other related safe work practices. Use smart phone applications to record inspection, maintenance, timesheets, and expense reports.

    What we're looking for:

    A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience inspecting and maintaining wastewater conveyance and treatment systems. Experience inspecting and maintaining pumps, float controls, electrical systems, and related infrastructure. Experience working with 240- and 440-amp power systems and confined-space entry. Use of smart phone applications and cloud-based timesheet/expense reports. Safe driving record. Experience driving a service vehicle such as an extended cab F250 with 8' utility bed. Open and candid communication. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Your Responsibilities as a Water / Wastewater Operator (Treatment Plant & Field Services):
