    SUMMARY

    The ANSYS HFSS product team is focused on developing graphical user interfaces and simulation pipelines that drive our industry-leading electrical simulation products. We are seeking a software engineer with a passion for user interface and product development. The successful candidate will perform design, development and maintenance of various desktop applications in a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment. In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will use advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team tackle complex issues, satisfy customer requirements, and accomplish development objectives. This includes the transformation and componentization of existing software, and integration of cross-product functionalities, etc.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Participates in planning, architecture, and research
    • Performs complex development activities that may require extensive analysis in areas including user experience, software design, and algorithm research.
    • Employs best practices and helps to maintain them through technical reviews and mentoring.
    • Performs complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products. Researches problems discovered by QA or product support and develops solutions.
    • Researches and understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues. May work with strategic customers or proxies to assess needs and develop solutions.
    • Works independently with minimal supervision and may take on some planning and mentoring responsibilities

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or related field with 5 years' experience, MS with 3 years' experience.
    • Significant software development experience using C++ or related language.
    • Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Passion for crafting robust and efficient code
    • Experience delivering high-quality products in a large-scale commercial software development environment
    • Familiarity with the entire development process, including specification, documentation, quality assurance, and use of software engineering tools.
    • Understanding of customer requirements and tools used in electronics simulation domain

    Summary / Role Purpose

    Join the Ansys Customer Excellence team to partner with our customers to engineer what's ahead, solve their real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys software in their design workflows, and grow Ansys' business. As a subject matter, industry and Ansys SPDM solutions expert, you will use engineering and business knowledge to provide technical pre-sales support, perform professional services, and help guide Ansys product roadmap based on customer requirements. You will consult with customers on data management solutions for simulation-based activities in support of their key business initiatives, work with, and often lead project teams to create pervasive solutions and mentor junior engineers . This role will focus primarily on the Simulation Data and Process Management platform from Ansys.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities
    • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, negotiating technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations, and evaluations. Work independently within multi-disciplinary teams
    • Help guide sales engagements to successful outcomes using subject matter expertise and industry best practice knowledge
    • Interact with customers to understand their key business initiatives, product design needs and engineering design workflows; analyze how to address customers' requirements using Ansys products and platform, articulate Ansys' value proposition to Executive level audiences
    • Lead project teams to create differentiating simulation solutions using the Ansys platform and products; deploy the solutions within customers' design workflows
    • Mentor and train customers in the best practice usage of SPDM according to their industry use cases, and be an advisor to their journey in digital engineering
    • Work within the Ansys SPDM platform to create configurations to best match customer business processes, application support requirements, and enterprise integration aspirations
    • Collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to guide Ansys product roadmap; lead project teams testing new releases of Ansys products on industrial problems, develop application best practices

    Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience
    • Required education and degree type: BS or MS or PhD in Mechanical/Chemical/Aerospace/Electrical Engineering or related field
    • Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+8, MS+6, or PhD+3
    • Subject matter expert in one or more relevant disciplines within Ansys' business and is/will be sought out for advice by other Ansys engineers
    • Has experience with simulation software, Ansys or other, for pre-processing, solving, and post-processing
    • Demonstrated understanding of engineering practices and product development, experience with building solutions using simulation technology and deploying those solutions within customers' engineering workflows
    • Best practice knowledge of positioning and implementing configurations based on no-code, low-code and script-based coding solutions
    • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
    • Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English
    • Familiarity with how to approach configuration problem solving involving software and its communication capabilities to other software and platforms
    • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects which are complex in nature, possesses a sense of urgency

    • Good knowledge of circuit level and timing analysis of most common signal integrity applications and compliance standards

    • Knowledgeable with package, printed circuit boards and connector design processes and EDA Tools

    • Fundamental knowledge of high frequency, microwave and antenna concepts including S-parameters, wave propagation, antenna radiation patterns and scattering analysis

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Contribute to the development of software products and supporting systems.
    • Collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand customer requirements and accomplish development objectives.
    • Perform moderately complex development activities, including the design, implementation, maintenance, testing and documentation of software modules and sub-systems.
    • Understand and employ software development best practices.
    • Perform moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study.
    • Alternate Acceptable Education and Work Experience Requirement: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Civil Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field of study, and two (2) years of experience in a related position.
    • Work experience or academic coursework must have included:
      • experience with software design and development in a large-scale commercial environment;
      • C++ programming language and Object-Oriented programming;
      • C++ standard template library (STL);
      • design and implementation of computational numerical methods and mesh generation techniques;
      • Scripting languages: Python, MATLAB, or JavaScript;
      • software configuration management systems, Git or TFS;
      • Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), Visual Studio.
      • Additional work location information: This is a flex work opportunity. The applicant must be willing to reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the ANSYS office in Evanston, IL in order to work in the office at least 1-2 days per week.
    Wage Range: $106,558.00 to $108,000.00 per year

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Lead in coordinating and executing all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle such as technical discovery, negotiate technical success criteria, product presentations, demonstrations and evaluations.
    • Work independently within multi-disciplinary teams. Interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows;

    • Two (2) years of hands-on experience in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) modeling of High-Tech industrial applications including high-temperature plasma and arc simulations, chip-package-system/electronics thermal, and epoxy/resin curing, using commercial CFD software such as Ansys Fluent or equivalent;
    • Two (2) years of experience applying Multiphase and Multi-physics modeling workflows using commercial simulation and optimization tools for industrial problems;
    • Two (2) years of experience with scripting for CFD workflow automation or customization using Scheme, or user defined functions with C/C++;
    • Experience using electromagnetic models within industry level CFD applications;
    • Experience developing reduced order (0D/1D) models from 3D CFD models and using them in system-level modeling.
    • Ability to travel domestically up to 25% of time
