Responsibilities
Serve as first and second assistant in cardiothoracic surgery cases in the operating roomPerform endoscopic radial and saphenous vein harvesting (extensive experience required)Provide ultrasound‑guided arterial and venous access for central line placementInsert and remove:Chest tubes and pigtail cathetersSwan‑Ganz cathetersPacing wiresPerform cardioversionAct as bedside assistant for robotic cardiothoracic proceduresParticipate in direct patient care (approximately 99.8% of role)Complete required clinical documentation in the VA’s electronic health record (EHR)Follow VA medical staff bylaws, quality assurance, patient safety, and infection control standardsParticipate in quality improvement, OPPE, and performance monitoring activities as requiredQualifications
