    Job DescriptionJob DescriptionWe are looking for 1 Intern/Co-op for the Spring 2027semester who can work full-time, primarily onsite (with the possibility of some remote work), with employment starting in January. An Electrical Engineering Co-op/Intern will support the Electrical Engineering team by performing tests and design changes.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.Product Testing – Including but not limited to: Voltage, Current, temperature, etc.Motor Testing – Speed, Torque, Power, Efficiency, etc.Lithium-Ion Battery TestingPCB Functionality Testing Component Testing – FETs, BJTs, Microcontrollers, Charge Controllers, etc.Programs Microcontrollers using C programming language or similar.Electronics innovation utilizing development boards.Investigates field failures and determines root cause of failure down to component level.Develops test reports that clearly highlight test results.Competitor product teardowns and investigation.Processes written Engineering Change Requests. Engineering change requests including various 2D drafting work using Electrical CAD, AutoCAD, bill of material changes and the writing of an Engineering Change Notice.  This work is being done under close direction from a designer or engineer.Utilizes knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to create or change 2D drawings using Electrical CAD, and or AutoCAD.Makes small design changes to 3D models previously created using the Solid Works program is a plus.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must be enrolled in an accredited technical school or university studying toward an associate/bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Electronic or Equivalent Engineering degree program. Proficient in MS Office, preferably Word, Power point and Excel.  Experience with Circuit and PCB design software is a plus (Example – KiCad, Eagle, Altium, etc.).  Experience with circuit simulation software is a plus (Example – LTSpice, Multisim, etc.) Experience with AutoCAD and Solidworks is a plus.  Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write Engineering Change Notices and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Engineers, Designers and Peers.Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

This is an educational position, requiring basic knowledge and understanding of packaging and manufacturing industry and technical concepts. During the co-op you will collaborate to serve both internal and external customers of the company. Interface across various work areas and organizations to support the process of design, development, and analysis of Andis Packaging.

    As a student, you will evaluate the customer’s needs and expectations for a packaging solution and gain experience with multiple materials and revenue streams. Assignments will include participation in cross-functional teams to cultivate packaging for projects within different stages of readiness.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Upholds Andis Core Values in all work-related activities.Maintains open communication and build strong relationships with teams within and beyond engineering.Designs consumer driven packing for manufacturability, inspect ability, and cost optimization.Reviews and qualifies packaging dyeline files from external suppliers and printers.Coordinates prototype models to evaluate new design concepts with suppliers.Generates comprehensive protocols for analyzing and testing packaging.Identifies, follows, and documents appropriate ISTA testing procedures.Creates and revises component drawings as well as associating BOMs with most up to date specifications.Manages the circulation of packaging documentation for various functional approvals.Participates in project teams & assist in meeting stage gate deliverables.Completes competitor benchmarks document current packaging data Assists with production floor challenges as needed.

    EXPECTED AREAS OF COMPETENCE:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Candidate must be currently enrolled as a sophomore, junior, or senior in an accredited college or university for the duration of the assignment and pursuing a bachelor's degree in packaging engineering/science. Other majors with relevant packaging experience will be considered.Completed entry-level & material classes in packaging.Completion of Evaluation testing classes a plusBasic understanding of principles of structural integrity & analysis to determine effects of loads on structures. Previous experience or coursework in packaging preferred.Knowledge of SolidWorks, Artios, ArtiosCad, TOPs or similar design software Excel (pivot tables, functions/formulas, filters, etc.) is our primary tool outside of the master system.Must be able to commute to the work location daily.

Engineering Change Orders include various 2D drafting work, Bill of Material changes and the writing of an Engineering Change Order.  This work is being done under close direction from a designer or engineer. Makes 2D AutoCAD drawings, checking dimension of parts, materials to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project. Make assembly and experimental drawings as required. Utilizes knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to complete drawings. Draws finished 2D designs from sketches supplied by a designer or engineer. Uses AutoCAD software Microsoft Dynamics to distribute part numbers, Engineering Change Orders, and Bill of Materials that the rest of the company utilizes in their processes.Makes small design changes to 3D models previously created using the Solid Works program. Documentation and reporting skills to support the Product Engineering team as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Must be enrolled in an accredited technical school or university studying toward an associate/bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field. Must have and maintain a minimum G.P.A. of 3.00/4.0. Proficient in MS Office, preferably Word and Excel. Experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks, Creo or Auto Desk required. Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write Engineering Change Notices and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Engineers, Designers, supervisors and peers. This work is done under close direction from a Quality Engineer, Supervisor or Quality Manager. Enters raw data collected from various production operations into the appropriate programmer spread sheets. Complete data analysis utilizing Minitab Software (based on previous engineering/internship experience)Collects and correlates gage/fixture information Performs process and product audits (as needed) Utilizes knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, and other physical sciences to complete drawings. Makes small design changes to 3D models previously created using the Solid Works program. Problem solves quality issues and writes non-conforming material reports.Assists with Calibration activities as needed.Assists with PPAP and Ad-hoc activities as needed.Assists with sorting, measurement, and any other root cause investigation activities. Assists with incoming inspection as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
