ATS technicians are trained to provide quality maintenance on our growing fleet of over-the-road trucks and trailers. The Trailer Technician Level 3 is responsible for the inspection, service, repair and preventative maintenance of the various types of ATS owned trailers by using ATS and industry standard methods and criteria to ensure the trailer is safe to be on the road. Functions of this position include: inspecting, diagnosing, replacing and repairing brake systems ABS, electrical components, steering systems, multi-axle alignments, hydraulic systems, welding / fabrication of steel and aluminum and related equipment
Education and Experience
1. Two year AAS Degree in medium/heavy truck diesel program and/or a minimum 1 to 3 years of equivalent experience in related field e.g., automotive, medium/heavy equipment, trailer repair, etc. and experience in cutting and welding is preferred.
2. Good working Knowledge of DOT regulations and Out of Service parameters for tractors, trailers and accessorial equipment.
3. Good working knowledge of trailer maintenance and diagnostic software.
4. A valid driver's license, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred but not required.
5. Must be able to operate all related shop equipment.
6. Must be DOT certified and forklift certified, or able to demonstrate through on the job inspections and certified by the ATS trainer within 90 days of hire if work experience is applicable.
7. Good communications skills (written, verbal, listening).
8. An understanding of basic computer operations.
9. Good decision-making, problem-solving, attention to detail and customer service skills (internal/external).
10. Competent in using computers including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform inspections on incoming (Safety Lane) and outgoing company owned trailers using ATS, DOT, and OSHA guidelines to ensure the trailer is operating safely and efficiently.
2. Complete DOT inspections on outgoing trailers to verify that all necessary repairs have been made.
3. Ensure safety procedures are implemented and followed and PPE is used at all times.
4. Move tractors and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance.
5. Inspects and perform all minor and major trailer maintenance including welding, tire replacement, pressure checks, brakes, lights, and safety equipment and submits reports indicating condition of equipment.
6. Weld metal to repair parts or fabricate replacement parts.
7. Open repair orders and charge out all parts used on trucks and trailers.
8. Participate in online OEM training.
9. Remain technically proficient in all areas of the shop including trailer, tire, and basic parts.
10. Utilize appropriate resources, such as the parts manual and computer, service bulletins and other resources to research problems, determine most effective and efficient method for repair.
11. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes, and initiate improvements.
12. Be a positive role model for all team members providing support and enthusiasm – creating a professional, positive work environment.
13. Performs shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities as well as other miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
14. Must furnish basic tools and ATS will provide specialty tools to perform functions of the position.

Compensation & Benefits:
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $21.00 - $41.00 plus $4/hr. 2nd shift differential. This position may be eligible for a $2000.00 sign-on bonus, subject to eligibility requirements. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic (HEM) is responsible for the inspection, service, repair and preventative maintenance of the various types of company owned equipment. Using both company and industry standards, this role ensures all equipment is safe and road ready. This position involves inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, hydraulic steering systems, multi-axle alignments, chassis electrical, and air brake systems. The position also requires intermediate welding and fabrication work as needed.
Education and Experience
A degree/diploma from an accredited Heavy Equipment and/or Diesel Technician program. Or 5+ years of equivalent experience working with heavy/medium duty diesel heavy equipment validated through the Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) Foundation Technical Pre-Assessment with a passing overall score of =>65%. And must obtain AED Industry Certified Technician assessment with a passing overall score of =>70% within 1 year of hire date. Capable of independently welding a wide range of equipment components, including structural areas, while consistently meeting quality repair standard.Proficient in rebuilding full Tridec steer systems and replacing all bushings and bearings can document and train others to do this following an SOP.Tear down and rebuild Booster Pivot bearings, Hatbox bearings, fifth goosenecks and large Heavy Yellow repairs with some guidance.Skills and knowledge to work on all equipment such as 3 axle RGN's, 4 Axle RGN's, Blades, Multi Axle, Perimeters and Schnable's. Possesses skills and knowledge to perform comprehensive repairs on small gas engines and accurately diagnose hydraulic systems on multi-axle and blade equipment.Install and take out deck sections and beam sections upon request. Can convert multi axle equipment into steerable equipment upon request. Perform accident damage repairs including full rear end replacements, axle and boogie box swaps, side-rail and cross member repairs and up to Multi Axle and Schnabel equipment.Knowledge of the equipment air systems. Be able to diagnose and make repairs and re-plumb equipment air systems. Can train others in this area as well.Demonstrate superior IDRIVE values. 4. Move tractors and trailers in and out of the shop for maintenance.
5. Inspects and perform all minor and major trailer maintenance including welding, tire replacement, pressure checks, brakes, lights, and safety equipment and submits reports indicating condition of equipment.
6. Weld metal to repair parts or fabricate replacement parts.
7. Open repair orders and charge out all parts used on trucks and trailers.
8. Participate in online OEM training.
9. Remain technically proficient in all areas of the shop including trailer, tire, and basic parts.
10. Utilize appropriate resources, such as the parts manual and computer, service bulletins and other resources to research problems, determine most effective and efficient method for repair.
11. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and take appropriate actions, recommend process changes, and initiate improvements.
12. Be a positive role model for all team members providing support and enthusiasm – creating a professional, positive work environment.
13. Performs shop clean-up and housekeeping responsibilities as well as other miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
14. Must furnish basic tools and ATS will provide specialty tools to perform functions of the position.
15. Meet all ATS and department objectives and deadlines.
16. Follow all ATS and department policies and procedures.
17. Works within budget that is set for the department.

19. Position may require work responsibilities outside of normal business hours including Saturday shifts, and infrequent travel may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is between $21.50 - $40.00 plus $4/hr. 2nd shift differential. This position may be eligible for a $2000.00 sign-on bonus, subject to eligibility requirements. Hourly pay rate offered is determined by relevant experience, education, certifications, and geographic location as compared to others doing substantially similar work.
