    Amherst College invites applications for the position of Associate Director, Multicultural Resource Center (MRC), to further the center's mission of providing education, support, and advocacy to and on behalf of students who identify as people of color at Amherst College, offering a space for community building and resources. Through programmatic initiatives, resources, and services, the MRC aims to foster personal, social, and academic success for the student populations at Amherst College, which is welcoming to all. Rooted in the framework of intersectionality, the MRC serves as a space where students of color can celebrate their identity and where the Amherst community can participate in conversations that expand our collective understanding of racialized experiences. The Multicultural Resource Center is part of the Student Engagement and Equity unit within the Division of Student Affairs.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Identity and Cultural Engagement, the Associate Director will be a content expert on the Center's salient identities, supervise student staff, manage day-to-day operations, advance student-led programming, and also oversee critical center communications platforms. The Associate Director will work in collaboration with the Senior Director to develop, implement, and assess signature programs and initiatives. The Associate Director of MRC will work collaboratively on shared projects and initiatives with the Office of Identity and Cultural Resources- composed of Amherst's six identity-based resource centers, including: the Center for International Student Engagement, Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, Class and Access Resource Center, Queer Resource Center, and the Women's & Gender Center. The Associate Director will collaborate with various campus partners and stakeholders to fulfill the Center's mission through educational, social, and cultural programming that centers on and affirms the diverse communities the Center serves.

    The Associate Director takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. This is an in-person position with hybrid work offered during the academic breaks. Occasional nights and weekends are required. Attend and support signature Student Affairs and campus-wide programs, including Orientation, Mammoth Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Campus Parties, Homecoming, Spring Concert, Commencement, and Reunion.

    Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

    Management, Operations, and Supervision: Management of the day-to-day operations of the Multicultural Resource Center Serve as a core leader within the Office of Identity and Cultural Resources Team and a liaison to the senior administration of the College. Serves as a content expert on the salient communities the Center engages, providing insight and guidance to ensure programs, resources, and initiatives are responsive to their needs and experiences. Leads strategic planning and comprehensive assessment of MRC operations, resources, and programming to ensure alignment with institutional priorities and emerging best practices. Oversees budget planning and tracks expenditures to ensure resources are used effectively and responsibly. Recruits, hires, trains, and supervises a team of 4-6 student staff, fostering their professional growth and development in both skill and content expertise. Works with staff to collect and assess program data, sharing annual reports that celebrate impact and inform ongoing development and areas for growth. Responsible for identifying and supporting students experiencing acute or chronic stress; completing reports in a timely manner, and maintaining communication with the Senior Director to inform CARE Team processes and ensure appropriate support. Serve on College-wide and divisional task forces, committees, working groups, and search committees. Attends 1:1s, weekly team meetings, monthly division meetings, and college-wide meetings.

    Program Development, Facilitation, and Assessment: Develops and coordinates academic programming within the Centers, partnering with faculty and academic departments to promote interdisciplinary learning and foster intellectual engagement. As a member of the OICR Team, co-create, develop, and implement programs, trainings, and workshops that examine the intersections of historically and presently marginalized identities and their communities. Stays informed about local, national, and global issues that impact the student communities served by the Center, ensuring responsive and relevant programming. Develop educational and social programs that advance critical awareness and understanding of race and ethnicity Builds meaningful partnerships with parents and families, alumni, and campus community members to create and sustain impactful programs and resources that enrich the student experience. Assist in the planning, implementation, and assessment of Cultural Heritage months and other signature programs. Collaborate at the divisional and institutional level to develop and facilitate campus programs, workshops, trainings, and other opportunities that support the mission of MRC.

    Student Support and Development: Serves as a key liaison to Student Care, CCMH, Class Deans, and other campus partners to coordinate timely support and interventions for students experiencing acute or crisis situations. Collaborates with campus partners to develop and implement policies that directly influence and support the Center's mission, programs, and communities. Meet with and advise students on support resources at and beyond the College. Provide leadership and organizational development education to student organizations engaged in work related to the MRC's mission.

    Content Development and Communications: Oversee all of MRC's communications: newsletters, advertisements, social media, etc. Develops, manages, and evaluates the Center's social media presence in collaboration with student staff, ensuring engaging, strategic, and mission-aligned content. Manage the creation of educational and promotional materials for both print and online platforms. Maintain the website to ensure it is up to date and includes dynamic resources for students.

    Qualifications

    RequiredMaster's Degree in Student Affairs/Personnel, Higher Education, Social Justice Education, or an adjacent degree in critical area studies and/or related fields.2-4 years of progressive experience working with first-generation, low-income, veteran, transfer, and/or other students.Demonstrated commitment to a student-centered approach in practice, especially with building relationships with underrepresented students.Content expertise in contemporary challenges and issues of historically and presently marginalized studentsAt least 1 full year of demonstrated experience with student supervision and developmentEffective and clear communication, both verbal and written.Program development, implementation, and assessment experienceExperience with content management on multiple mediums and platforms, i.e. poster design, social media account management, website editing, email marketing programs, etc.Strong interpersonal, time management, and organizational skillsProficiency with Google Suite for Education, Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Demonstrated efficacy working with diverse teams.Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively.Successful completion of required reference and background checks

    The Groundsperson supports the efforts of the Landscape and Grounds department to maintain proper maintenance of all landscaping while also supporting the efforts to keep the campus safe and healthy. The Groundsperson works supporting campus landscaping, athletic grounds landscaping and the facilities garage.

    Work schedule: The position is designated as providing essential services and may be required to report to work or remain on duty even when the College is closed. Our work is central to student life, and their needs occur at a variety of times throughout the day, week, and year, and as such, a flexible schedule with extended shift times may be required.     Summary of Responsibilities:

    Labor Support
    Perform general landscape duties required to maintain the landscape and provide labor support
    Duties include but are not limited to, lawn mowing, picking up trash, collecting donations, trash recycling removal, weeding, minor trimming, raking, sweeping, leaf clean up, unloading trucks, snow and ice removal and assisting the athletic Groundskeepers when needed
    Assisting the facilities mechanic with transporting vehicles, team lift-requiring tasks, and general labor support in vehicle and small equipment maintenance


    Event and Setup Support
    Help with all functions required for facilitating events and special services on campus, including but not limited to moving tables, chairs, tents, speakers, water, fencing and other materials required to facilitate events on campus
    Assist with trucking duties associated with transporting and collecting materials and supplies


    Qualifications:

    The Theater and Dance Department Graduate Production Assistant is a recent graduate who has studied and expressed an interest in developing technical production skills in one or more areas of scenic, costumes, lighting and sound. In addition, depending on the graduate's longer-term career goals, the position can include opportunities to do stage management, design or directing work for the department, as available.

    The Graduate Production Assistant works closely with the Theater and Dance Faculty and Production Staff to develop and execute work that is presented as part of the academic production season. The Graduate Production Assistant will work with and help support a highly diverse group of student employees.

    The Graduate Production Assistant will take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. In support of this goal, the Graduate Production Assistant will help to guide a highly diverse group of student workers. The Graduate Production Assistant will also be involved in designing the Department of Theater and Dance's academic production season, which is designed with an eye toward providing inclusive performance opportunities for all members of the 5 College community.

    Summary of Responsibilities:

    The Graduate Production Assistant has duties related to the academic production program in three main areas;
    Assist the Production Staff in the physical execution of design elements required for the successful presentation of the academic production season. This includes, but is not limited to, work in areas of scenic carpentry, theatrical lighting, sound, video, costuming, and upkeep of the theater facilities.
    Support and mentor current Theater and Dance students in the development of their artistic work related to the academic production season.
    Assignments in support of the Department production program. Some examples might include: attending evening rehearsals and working with student stage managers, attending technical rehearsals and training backstage crews, and helping designers and staff with research and acquisition of props and other design materials.


    Qualifications:

    Required

    Bachelor's degree; recent college graduate.
    1 to 3 years of related experience.
    Equivalent combination of education/experience, in lieu of minimum education and related experience; production experience in a college theater environment.
    Theater training in design or other areas related to technical production support.
    Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
