    Project Manager

    Summary 
    The Project Manager position will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager on a major Marine project in the South Florida / Caribbean area. This position will be responsible for managing budgets, tracking progress, overseeing the existing workforce, and completing the project on time and under budget. This is a full-time position with American Bridge that includes full benefits, vacation, holiday, and a living allowance.

    Requirements:

    •B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience 
    •5 to 8 years of experience with exposure to projects with a major scope
    •Serve as the Project Manager with all aspects of moderate to major projects or multiple smaller projects
    •Responsible for customer liaison activity
    Management of contracts, budgets, schedules, cost forecasting, change orders, budget schedules, claims, safety, staff, etc.

    •Serves as an understudy to the Operations Manager to gain knowledge to lead future projects
    •Responsible for constructability reviews, scheduling, resource utilization and efficiency, design/scope change reviews and resolution, quality assurance, quality control, purchase orders and subcontracts, resolution of field and technical anomalies, interfaces with inspection agencies, permitting issues, project closeouts, etc.

    Other Skills and Abilities

    •Must be able to legally work in the United States.
    •Must be willing to work in a drug-free environment and agree to a post offer drug test. 
    •Must be willing to work safely and keep OSHA recordable incidents to a minimum. 
    •Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and construction software; must be proficient with MS Office.
    •Good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively plan and organize to meet project deadlines.

    Supervisory Responsibilities 
    Management of Field Engineers, and Craft workforce already in place.

    Education and/or Experience 
    A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills 
    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills 
    Ability to work with mathematical concepts related to structural engineering and related calculations. Individual should some level of business acumen, including knowledge of operating expenses, profit, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
    Reasoning Ability 
    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    Computer Skills
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, reporting tools related to databases. Must have the ability to learn design software programs.

This is an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience on a large-scale, international heavy civil construction project.

    Position Overview

    We are seeking a motivated Civil/Structural Engineering co-op student to support our project team for the Fall 2026 term (September–December). The successful candidate will work alongside our engineering and construction management staff, gaining practical exposure to all phases of construction execution, from field engineering to project documentation.

    The Center Hill Dam project is a major civil infrastructure rehabilitation effort located on the Caney Fork River near Lancaster, Tennessee. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Center Hill Dam is a critical flood control and hydropower facility serving the region. This project involves significant structural repair and rehabilitation work, providing the Co-op with direct exposure to large-scale heavy civil construction in a dynamic, technically complex environment.

    Position Overview
    We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Field Engineer Co-op to join our project team for the Fall/Winter 2026 semester. This is a hands-on, field-focused role designed to provide engineering students with real-world construction experience on a high-profile civil infrastructure project. The Co-op will work closely with experienced field engineers, superintendents, and project managers to support daily construction operations.

    Key Responsibilities
    •    Assist field engineers with daily layout, surveying, and quality control activities
    •    Support documentation of field conditions, RFIs, submittals, and daily reports
    •    Perform quantity tracking and cost code verification for installed work
    •    Assist in coordinating subcontractors and material deliveries on-site
    •    Conduct safety observations and participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings
    •    Maintain as-built drawing markups and record drawings
    •    Support concrete placement operations including formwork inspection and pour cards
    •    Assist with scheduling updates and lookahead planning coordination
    •    Participate in owner and design team meetings as directed
    •    Perform field measurements and verify work conforms to project plans and specifications

    Qualifications
    •    Currently enrolled in an accredited Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering program (sophomore standing or above preferred)
    •    Must be eligible for Co-op participation through your university for the Fall/Winter 2026 term
    •    Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and engineering principles
    •    Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
    •    Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar software is a plus
    •    Strong verbal and written communication skills
    •    Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions
    •    Valid driver's license required
    •    OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

    o The Project Engineer will support the Project Manager’s cost control responsibilities. These include documenting and maintaining quantity and production tracking, cost forecasts, and Look Ahead activity schedules.

    o The Project Engineer will mentor Field Engineers and Interns, this includes being proactive on Safety and Quality Assurance and provide areas for Field Engineers to expand their experiences.

    This is an hourly-rated position at the American Bridge Manufacturing (ABM) facility, shift hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.  ABM is an AISC Certified Fabricator that supports all heavy civil construction projects for the Southland Holdings family of companies, including American Bridge Company.   Senior Welder / Fabricators are responsible for performing a variety of activities related to structural steel fabrication including layout, fitup, welding, grinding, carbon arc, material processing, etc..

    Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDemonstrated welding experience with at least one, but preferably all, of the following processes:  FCAW-G (Flux Core), SMAW (Stick), SAW (Sub Arc).Demonstrated welding experience in welding: carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steelDemonstrated experience with air-arc gouging.  Must be able to pass the required welding certification tests for the appropriate processes and positions.
