Job Overview
The Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and complete project estimates that support AMCON’s strategic growth in industrial and commercial electrical projects. This role works closely with project managers, vendors, and leadership to evaluate scope, prepare detailed takeoffs, analyze costs, and develop proposals. The Electrical Estimator ensures consistency and precision across all bids — helping position AMCON for successful, profitable execution from preconstruction through turnover.
Duties and Responsibilities
Document Control and Scope Evaluation
Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to fully understand project requirements and deliverables. Identify scope gaps, clarifications, and exclusions to ensure accurate, complete estimates. Manage and organize project documentation for estimate tracking and future referenceQuantity Takeoff and Cost Development
Perform detailed electrical takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment using estimating software and industry standards.Apply labor units, productivity factors, and material pricing to develop complete cost estimates.Maintain current knowledge of market pricing and production trends.Subcontractor and Vendor Pricing
Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals for completeness and accuracy.Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and trade partners to ensure competitive and reliable pricing.Coordinate clarification and alignment of vendor scopes to prevent overlap or gaps.Proposal and Documentation Preparation
Compile final proposal packages, including bid forms, clarifications, and supporting documentation.Collaborate with operations and leadership teams to align pricing strategies with project goals.Support business development and estimating leadership in preparing presentations and client submissions.Business Development and Growth
Participate in internal estimate reviews to validate accuracy, risk, and completeness prior to bid submission.Support preconstruction and project management teams during estimate handoff and transition to execution.Contribute to after-action project reviews to improve accuracy, processes, and competitiveness.Requirements
5+ years of electrical estimating experience in industrial and/or mission critical construction Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and construction methods Proficient with estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, or similar) and Microsoft Excel Skilled at reading drawings, performing takeoffs, and developing complete project costs Experience working with vendors and subcontractors to secure accurate, competitive pricing Highly organized and detail-oriented; able to manage multiple bids and deadlines Collaborative communicator who works well with field, operations, and leadership teams Aligns with AMCON’s core values — All In Every Day, Better Together, Cultivating Trust, and Driven by DisciplineBenefits

Job Overview
As an Electrical Project Manager at AMCON, you will be responsible for leading and managing electrical construction projects from inception to completion. You will oversee project planning, resource allocation, budget management, schedule adherence, and quality control. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical project management and possess excellent leadership and communication skills. You will be a key member of our team, ensuring the successful delivery of projects in a timely, cost-effective, and safe manner.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership, Management, and Accountability
Lead project teams to deliver projects on time, on budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.Maintain clear communication with superintendents, field teams, and clients throughout all project phasesFinancial Management
Manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost control systems to achieve financial targets.Review change orders, billings, and cost-to-complete projections to maintain profitability.Document Control
Ensure all project documentation, RFIs, submittals, and change management logs are accurate and current.Support project coordination with design teams, vendors, and subcontractors.Schedule Management
Develop, maintain, and communicate project schedules with internal teams and clients.Identify and mitigate schedule risks through proactive planning and resource coordination.Problem Identification and Resolution
Anticipate potential project issues and implement corrective actions swiftly.Serve as primary point of escalation for operational and client concerns.Customer Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term client relationships through consistent communication and reliable project delivery.Represent AMCON professionally in all client and partner interactions.Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical construction project managementWillingness to travel 65% of the time Proven track record of successfully delivering complex electrical projects on time and within budgetDemonstrated leadership abilities and experience managing project teamsStrong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, standards, and regulationsExcellent organizational and problem-solving skillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environmentProficiency in project management software and toolsProfessional certifications such as PMP or CEM are highly desiredBenefits
