The Cluster Operations Manager is responsible for one or more Amazon Data Center Clusters and Colocation Operations within a particular region. It is the senior Infrastructure Operations role within the region and has managerial responsibility for safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency and cost.

The Infrastructure Operations organizations are composed of two primary functions: Data Center operations (DCO) and Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO). A physical security organization, while not reporting directly to the Cluster Operations Manager, is an integral part of the operation. Data Center Operations focuses on the server-level platforms that support both Amazon Retail and Amazon Web Services. Engineering Operations focuses on the mechanical, electrical and controls systems that support our data Center critical environments. Security Operations are charged with the physical security of our people, assets, and customer data.

The Cluster Operations Manager must be able to build and lead high performing teams across each of these functions, understand and manage their daily operations while at the same time having the technical capability and curiosity to dive deep into any given challenges as needed.

The Cluster Operations Manager is a key role in the management team that is operating and scaling the world's largest cloud computing infrastructure. Key job responsibilities
- Hiring, managing and developing the operations team including compute operations managers, engineering operations managers, logistics operations managers and their teams
- Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, efficiency and cost
- Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new Data Centers and Colocation (Colo) expansions
- Safety, security, and availability incident response, incident management and incident resolution
- Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods and tools

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree or above in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or experience managing teams
- 5+ years of management experience
- 5+ years of operations management experience
- Experience with Lean/Six Sigma
- 4+ years of professional work experience, or experience in technical work related to computer systems and technology components

Serve as a technical advisor for projects including; review of foundation and structural systems.
Create, review and release structural design RFPs.
Manage external structural design consultants through the audit, design and implementation of a variety of projects while coordinating with internal engineering, construction and other stakeholder teams.
Lead initiatives aimed at improving quality, schedule, consistency or reducing costs to in-flight and future data center construction and improvement projects.
Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously without compromising safety and availability constraints.

A day in the life
Amazon has a global presence; therefore 30% to 40% travel will be necessary. Support could consist of auditing/inspecting data centers, working on international teams and could require developing schematic and design document packages for existing sites. In this role you will need the ability and willingness to travel for site walks and field observations internationally/domestically with short notice.

As a Controls Colo Engineer, you will work with internal business teams and with colocation vendors to identify, document, and resolve any operational/design deficiencies which could impact a site's capability or availability. You will provide full life-cycle support to Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the 'go to' engineering resource when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams to:

• Work in close relationship with the control team of DCE Colocation Design and Standards (CoDeS) to develop and implement new and existing standards.
• Perform design and equipment submittal review for Controls for new Colo Data Centers in the region in order to ensure consistent standards across Colocation Data Centers and AWS owned sites.
• Review and Identify risks within the scope of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) for in-flight AWS Colo Data Centers.
• Review and identify risks within automation controls drawings and wiring diagrams, the controls logic programming and the graphical user interface.
• Review and accept proposed changes to the site-specific control infrastructure against AWS Data Center standards, and document accepted deviations when appropriate.
• Review Colo and Hybrid controls sequence of operation and provide feedback to design.
• Support the design for existing Colo Data Center control system upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
• Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures related to control equipment.
• Conduct site audits of Colo Data Centers, including producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.
• Support construction, commissioning, and turnover for Controls for any new construction projects (could be remote with local Colo Engineer presence).
• Lead internal team training and knowledge sharing sessions on Colo controls.
• Review and improve controls related processes, including quick reference guides for the team.

The Structural Engineer in Fleet remediation engineering, Civil Structural and Architectural (FSE-CSA) team has the ability to understand the customer demand as well as the technology & business opportunities that exist in order to achieve the organization's goals. You understand key problems, and propose and analyze multiple solutions to produce the most efficient, cost effective, resilient, and scalable structural designs/remediations achievable.

As a Structural Engineer in FSE-CSA, you are a leader in your field, working within and leading the work of cross-functional teams that include: technical program management, product management, architectural, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, supply chain management, operations, safety and security, and legal. You will be responsible for leading the structural design, strategy, product innovation and development, and audit/remediations of existing sites. Key job responsibilities
As a Structural Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the 'go to' engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise in Structural Engineering to:
Work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals on a wide variety of conceptual design, build, and retrofit projects at existing data center.
Create, review and release data center structural improvements and designs.
Drive refinements to the Basis of Design, product development, sustainability, and template specifications for structural systems to support continuous improvement of future data center designs.
Serve as a technical advisor for projects including; review of foundation and structural systems.
Create, review and release structural design RFPs.
Manage external structural design consultants through the audit, design and implementation of a variety of projects while coordinating with internal engineering, construction and other stakeholder teams.
Lead initiatives aimed at improving quality, schedule, consistency or reducing costs to in-flight and future data center construction and improvement projects.
Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously without compromising safety and availability constraints.

A day in the life
Amazon has a global presence; therefore 30% to 40% travel will be necessary. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary with short notice. Support could consist of auditing/inspecting data centers, working on international teams and could require developing schematic and design document packages for both global future and existing sites. In this role you will need the ability and willingness to travel for site walks and field observations internationally/domestically with short notice.

The Power Generation Solutions team creates and delivers product and engineering solutions in for power and energy to help advance AWS' mission to deliver world-leading cloud services. - Experience constructing electrical engineering systems including large scale power distribution/generation gear and mechanical engineering systems including cooling systems
- Experience with availability modeling software (ReliaSoft or similar software), familiarity with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), outage data, and maintenance data of key high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage electrical distribution equipment, energy storage equipment, and power generation equipment
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, single and three-line diagrams, P&ID drawings, submittals, sequence of operations, and mechanical and electrical drawing packages.
- Ability to analyze data and provide quantitative answers for outage rates, probability of outages, mean-time-between-failures (MTBF), mean-time-to-repair (MTTR), and additional metrics to evaluate power availability.

- Ability to produce analyses that ensure data centers satisfy defined design requirements, including availability goals, power quality specifications, and predicted performance targets.
- Experience with developing solutions and executing plans on fast-track design/build projects and/or multiple significant upgrade projects

As an ICT Colo Regional Engineer you will be part of a global engineering team, comprised of highly effective Mechanical, Electrical, and Control Engineers. The ICT Colo Engineering Team is a new fast-growing and leading-edge engineering team that is rethinking the design for the critical communications pathways that connect the various pieces of hardware inside AWS' data centers. As a member of this team, you will work directly with engineers and managers across the company to develop connectivity solutions for the physical layer. You will work with the rest of the design team to provide pathway and cabling designs and specification for construction and permitting. You will also work with industry suppliers and manufacturers to develop product requirements and recommend new technologies.

Key job responsibilities
Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designs and specifications.
Review and approval of ICT pathway, cable and equipment submittals.
Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data Centers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
- 10+ years Information and Communications Technology (ICT) design experience in Mission Critical Environments
- 5+ years of working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Professional Engineering or Architectural License

Amazon Web Services is hiring a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for our Electrical Products and Services Engineering team. The product engineering team is a part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation of products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint. This team works to design and develop resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products and systems. We are seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer who is capable of operating in a fast paced, ever changing, international product development and manufacturing production environment. Our Manufacturing Engineers work closely with Contract Manufacturers, design vendors, internal Product Development Engineers and other internal business partners to monitor and improve electrical equipment product quality, cost, manufacturability and delivery performance. This Manufacturing Engineer role will be a key liaison between the product design engineers and contract manufacturers drive DFx by taking input from our Contract Manufacturing supply base and improving our product designs. This position also provides key guidance and oversight for new product introductions at existing vendors and instilling our processes and expectations with new vendors. This role requires the engineer to be a technical contact and be the driver in understanding root cause of equipment failures and gaps in our suppliers manufacturing processes. This role will work with supply chain partners and contract manufacturers to improve processes that streamline the end-to-end supply chain, reducing and eliminating points of failure. This role will also be responsible for communicating risks to program managers and leadership to ensure appropriate mitigations can be put in place before they impact our customers.

As a product engineer at Amazon, you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including engineering service providers, manufacturers, vendors, inspectors, third party testing labs and contractors.

Key job responsibilities
- Drive design improvement with product development team informed by customer and Contract Manufacturer feedback and data
- Provide oversight and guidance to contract manufacturers during all phases of new product introduction and driving process discipline within AWS and vendors teams
- Work with quality team to improve quality metrics at contract manufacturers/vendors
- Root cause customer impacting issues and drive resolution
- Work with Contract Manufacturers to drive cycle time improvements leading to realized cost reductions
- Improve processes to simplify and drive efficiencies in the supply chain
- Provide guidance to program management teams and leadership to drive strategic business decisions regarding contract manufacturing supply base.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- 10+ years leading industrialization of electrical and mechanical products
- Demonstrated track record of driving manufacturing documentation creation including assembly drawings and ingestion into Product Lifecycle Manager
- Experience validating design through prototype builds, pre-production builds and first-of-kind builds and driving manufacturability changes
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience performing complex business case analysis to justify technical decisions and presenting the justification to management in a high-level review
- Master's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical engineering or equivalent
- Experience with the project management of technical projects
- Experience driving supply chain improvement projects
- Working knowledge of various ERP systems to provide guidance to contract manufacturers
- Knowledge of typical data center designs and architectures
