If so, then we have an opportunity for you! We are currently seeking a highly qualified Manufacturing Engineer II to join us at Philip Morris USA (PMUSA) in Richmond, VA . The location will reside within the Richmond MC supporting Primary Processing operations, maintenance and engineering teams at the manufacturing center. This role will be expected to support various processing stages including new installations, maintenance driven improvements and repairs, and troubleshooting problems with an approach to drive long-term success. What you will be doing: Provide technical support during normal and off-business hours (including weekends/holidays) to ensure that tobacco processing meets business needs. Develop process control (PLC) software and operator interfaces (HMI). Develop and deploy control system improvements to enhance process capability to meet product requirements and business demand. Analyze process data to evaluate process health and performance. Plan and execute projects and support maintenance utilizing internal union labor and external resources. Understand and execute based on union notification processes. Support reliability initiatives as directed to ensure systems operate dependably by minimizing failures through root cause analysis, predictive maintenance, and failure prevention strategies. Assist in projects and apply engineering best practices under guidance. Analyze and apply problem solving techniques to develop and implement improvements for methods, processes, products, systems, documentation, and equipment. Mentor team members on technical topics What we want you to have: A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting process control systems, instrumentation, sensors, valves and associated hardware/software systems (e.g. human-machine interfaces, process historians, digital networks, digital control systems, etc.). We are currently looking for a Senior Technician to join us at Altria Compounds LLC (ACL) in Richmond, VA. You will be responsible for and ingredient management and flavor manufacturing for the customers of ACL. Your role assures accurate receipt, staging for incoming evaluation, warehousing, staging for production, and flavor production/compounding. You must conform to appropriate cGMP practices and procedures at all times and are required to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). What you will be doing: Maintaining inventory and performing daily reconciliations of materials used in production upon completion of the blend. Performing physical inventory of all ingredients to assure LIFO/FIFO compliance and performing chemical inventory on all other chemicals each year. Following predetermined flavor formula to compound flavors acquired from SAP. Performing and documenting verifications on calibrated equipment per the requirements of the QMS, to include scales, flow meters, thermometers, and temperature controllers. These checks are performed on a daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly basis the QMS. Receiving all raw materials into inventory. Verifying shipping paperwork matches the material, entering the information into SAP, and generating labels for the material, and placing it into warehousing location using appropriate material handling equipment (forklifts), for inventory management. Performing shipping requirements for the Altria Compounds. This includes shipping finished product, samples, and other miscellaneous items. Must be trained in DOT regulations, as this includes the shipment of hazardous and flammable material. Handling hazardous waste generated in the facility. This includes monitoring the waste storage area, physically accounting for each item every week. Responsible for removing these items from inventory upon disposal and charging them to the accurate cost center. RCRA training required. Coordinating the sampling of ingredients for other facilities/operations. This involves staging the materials, notifying QA lab personnel, and adjusting inventory accordingly. The inventory adjustment includes removing the specified amount of each ingredient from inventory, monitoring the inventory electronically, and charging material usage to the appropriate facility/operation. What we want you to have: Knowledge of the metric system is required 1+ year of experience with flavor manufacturing is desired (pharmaceutical, food or dietary supplements industry) Knowledge of sanitary equipment design and operation, and good manufacturing practices (cGMP) is desired Ability to apply mathematical skills/concepts and perform conversions Ability to learn SAP R3 to perform your required job duties, proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and process control systems such as Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to wear product-specific personnel protective equipment and perform duties within a flavor manufacturing environment (dusty, flavors and aromas, temperatures extremes) The ability to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and hand trucks Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds Must have the ability to work any shift The starting salary is based on but not limited to experience, knowledge, and qualifications in determining compensation decisions.
